The first minute back in a baked cabin

Leave any car in a July car park and it turns into an oven within minutes. Here the small cabin works in your favour, because there's simply less air to chill. The front vents pull a 48-degree interior down to bearable faster than any SUV manages, and that first climb back in is the only rough part of the drive. Set your expectations at the price, though: single-zone manual AC and no rear air vents, which is standard at this end of the market. Anyone in the back relies on the airflow reaching them from the front, so a full car in peak summer asks a little more of the system. Park in shade or a basement when you can, and the heat mostly stops being a factor.

Who it's for, and who should size up
