Land at DXB, clear the airport, and have a Mitsubishi Attrage 2023 waiting at the kerb an hour or two after you book, paid for on the spot by debit card or cash with no big credit limit needed. For a visitor or a new resident sorting out a first month in Dubai, that ease is half the appeal. The other half is that this is a known quantity: a frugal little sedan that's been on these roads in big numbers for years, so nothing about a week with one will surprise you. It's cheap to run, easy to park, and honest about being basic. That trade is what this page is about.
There's a reason desks reach for the Attrage for first-time renters and visitors. It runs the same simple, proven setup Mitsubishi has used for ages, which means there's nothing exotic to go wrong over a week and nothing odd to learn before you drive off. The controls are physical and obvious, the 1.2-litre engine and CVT just get on with it, and the car behaves predictably in traffic. If your priority is reliable wheels you don't have to think about while you find your feet in a new city, that predictability is the point.
What you accept in return is a plain cabin. Hard plastics, a basic screen, simple kit. Nothing here feels special, and nothing distracts you either.

The fuel bill is the Attrage's strongest argument, and it matters most when you're watching a budget in an unfamiliar place. Mitsubishi quotes 20.4 km/L combined. You won't see that in Dubai stop-and-go with the AC working against the heat, but 16 to 18 km/L on a normal city and road mix is realistic. On the 42-litre tank that's a long way between fills, and most renters get the better part of a busy week before they need a station. The car comes with 250 km a day included, with no charge on the kilometres past that, so a day trip out of the city won't catch you out.
A small cabin cools fast, which is exactly what you want after the car has baked in a 45-degree car park. Once you're moving, the Attrage's AC pulls the interior down to comfortable within a few minutes, quicker than most bigger cars. Crack a window for a few seconds first to let the worst of the trapped heat escape, then run the fan hard. The front vents are strong and do the job for anyone up front. There are no rear vents, so a back-seat passenger feels the heat a beat longer on a hot drive, though the short cabin closes that gap soon enough.
For a small, cheap sedan the Attrage carries a genuinely useful load. The 450-litre boot takes two large hard cases plus a couple of cabin bags without folding the rear seats, which covers a DXB or DWC pickup for a couple or a small family travelling normally. The rear seat is the quiet surprise, with more legroom than the car's footprint suggests, so two adults sit comfortably for a city trip and three across works for kids or short hops. Four adults with four full-size cases is the point where it gets tight and a bigger sedan makes sense. The boot opening is a standard sedan slot, so one oversized item can be awkward even when there's room inside.
Small footprint, light steering and a tight turning circle make the Attrage simple to live with while you're still learning the city. Marina ramps, multi-storey bays and the constant U-turns on the main roads are all easy, and at 170 mm the clearance handles Dubai's speed bumps and mall ramps without scraping. On the highway it's honest about its limits. It cruises happily at 120 on the E11, but with 76 hp and a CVT a fast overtake asks the engine for everything it has and gets buzzy when you push it. It's a steady highway companion, not a quick one.
A couple of local rules worth knowing before you set off. Salik tolls run to your account as you pass the gantries, any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, and seat belts are mandatory in every seat. Child seats are required for under-fours, and we can fit one on request.
Rent the Attrage 2023 if you're a visitor, a new resident, or anyone who wants a dependable, cheap-to-run sedan for the city without the deposit and age hurdles that come with bigger cars. On an older-year rate it's one of the best-value ways to get mobile in Dubai, and being able to pay on delivery by debit card or cash takes the friction out of a first booking. Look past it if you regularly carry four adults on fast highway stretches or want a cabin that feels a step above basic. Those drivers should size up to a Honda City, which adds power, refinement and rear-seat comfort for a bit more money. For fuss-free, low-cost motoring while you settle in, though, the Attrage is the smart call.
