What that means day to day is that merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road stops being a decision. Squeeze the throttle and the GLE63 is past the gap before you've finished checking the mirror, no downshift, no delay. The suspension is tuned firmer than the standard GLE's too, so it corners flatter and telegraphs more of what the front tyres are doing, at the cost of a slightly harder ride over Dubai's rougher back streets. Ground clearance of 203 mm shrugs off speed bumps and steep parking ramps without a scrape, but the low-profile AMG wheels are less forgiving of a rough shoulder or a deep pothole than the standard GLE's tyres, so treat it as a paved-road car. The mileage allowance is friendlier than that sounds: 250 km a day covers most Dubai driving without a second thought, and if you do go over, extra kilometres cost AED 0.5 each, a mild rate next to some of the fleet's other AMG cars. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental are the renter's responsibility, and every seat needs a belt, with a child seat required for anyone under four. Minimum age to rent this one is 25.

Who should rent it, and who should look elsewhere

Rent the GLE63 if the point of the week is the V8: quick overtakes on the E11, a proper soundtrack, and a car that still seats five and carries real luggage while it does it. It's the sensible middle ground between a comfortable family SUV and something purely for show.

Look elsewhere if running cost matters more than pace. If you want the same body with lower fuel bills and an easier ride for a family week of mall runs and airport transfers, the standard GLE 350 does that job for less. And if outright drama is the actual goal, a G63 makes a bigger scene than this one does.
