If you want a Mercedes that handles a Dubai week without either feeling cramped or turning parking into a project, the GLC 300 2022 is the one that gets the proportions right, and we deliver it to your door in one to two hours. It's the 2.0-litre turbo four with 255 hp, the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, wrapped in a compact luxury SUV that seats five. The reason it books out is balance: you sit up high, the cabin feels like a proper Mercedes, and it still slides into a mall bay and threads a Marina ramp without the bulk of a GLE. This page is about whether that middle ground is the right call for your week, and when you should size up or down instead.
The 255 hp turbo four is quietly quick. Zero to 100 km/h lands around six seconds, so merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road or overtaking on the E11 is never a worry, and the car settles into a hushed, relaxed cruise at highway speed. This is not a sports SUV and doesn't pretend to be. What it does well is move five people and their week in comfort, with enough in reserve that you never feel like you're asking too much of it. The 4MATIC drive adds sure-footed grip pulling out of a wet roundabout in a rare downpour, though it's a road system rather than a dune tool. On the long interchanges and flyovers that make up most Dubai driving, it feels substantial and calm.

At 4658 mm long and 1890 mm wide, the GLC is a true compact SUV rather than a softened large one, and it shows in the city. It parks in standard mall bays without drama, manages multi-storey ramps and tight U-turns, and the light steering makes low-speed manoeuvres easy. The 201 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai speed bumps and community ramps without a scrape, and the higher seating gives you a clear view over traffic on a busy interchange, which matters more than people admit. It's big enough to feel planted at highway speed, small enough that parking never becomes a chore.
This is the honest part. The 550-litre boot is well shaped and, for a couple or a family of four, it does the job cleanly. Two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags sit behind the rear seats, which covers a DXB or DWC airport run for most travellers. Where it tightens is the full house: four adults, four hard cases and a stroller. At that point you're folding part of the rear bench or rethinking the load. For two people with generous luggage, or two adults and two kids on mall and beach runs, the space is comfortable. Routinely carrying five adults with full airport luggage is the line where a GLE earns its extra metal.
Dubai summer is the real test, and the GLC handles it the way you'd hope a Mercedes does. Parked in open sun at 45 degrees the cabin bakes like anything, but the climate system pulls the temperature down fast once you're moving, and the rear vents mean kids in the back aren't left waiting on the front blowers. The seats are leather, so a windscreen sunshade and a minute with the doors open before you load children is worth the habit. The higher seating helps here too, making car seats easier to fit and bags easier to lift than in a low sedan. For daily errands and back-to-back trips, the cabin stays genuinely comfortable.
The 66-litre tank and real-world economy of roughly 10 to 11 km/L around town mean a week of mixed Dubai driving needs maybe one or two fills, not a constant relationship with the pump. Lean on the highway and the range stretches toward 812 km on a tank. It's not the cheapest car to run, because it drinks more than a small crossover, but for the comfort and badge you get it's reasonable. A few Dubai facts to keep in mind: Salik tolls bill to the renter, any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit on request. You get 250 km included each day, with extra kilometres at 2 AED each.
Rent the GLC 300 if you're a couple or a small family who wants the Mercedes experience, a higher driving position and easy city parking in one car. For most visitors and residents, it's the right amount of SUV, which is exactly why it books out.
Size up to a GLE if you're five adults with full luggage, or you simply want more boot and rear room and don't mind the bigger footprint in tight parking. Size down to a GLA if your trip is mostly solo or two people running errands, the badge still matters, and you'd rather save on the daily rate and the fuel. The GLC is the middle that suits the most people. If your week looks like the middle, this is the car.
