Need a premium SUV that swallows a family without driving like a bus? We hand over the Mercedes GLB 250 2021 across Dubai with doorstep delivery in 1 to 2 hours, so it reaches your villa, hotel or office before you've finished unpacking. The GLB is the boxy one in the Mercedes small-SUV range, and that square shape is the whole point. It packs more usable cabin and an optional third row into a footprint not much bigger than a hatchback. This page is about who that suits: families who want seven seats and a star on the nose, and the people who'd be better off in a smaller GLA or a full-size three-row instead.
Think of it as the practical Mercedes. The roofline is upright, the doors are tall, and the rear is cut square rather than sloped, which is exactly why headroom and luggage space feel generous for the size. Under the bonnet sits a 2.0-litre turbo four making 224 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It reaches 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. That's brisk enough to merge onto Sheikh Zayed Road without drama, but the GLB isn't trying to be quick. It rides softly, steers lightly, and rewards a relaxed pace. If you want an SUV that feels sporty, this isn't it, and that's fine.

This is the decision that should drive your booking. The GLB offers an optional third row, so depending on the car you receive it's a five or a seven-seater. When you book, confirm the seat count with us, because both versions exist and they're not interchangeable for a family of six.
Here's the honest version: the third row is for kids. Two children up to roughly five-and-a-half feet ride back there comfortably for a mall run or an airport drop. Put an adult in row three and they'll be folded up and unhappy within ten minutes. If you genuinely need seven adult seats, this is the wrong car and you should size up to a larger three-row SUV. But for two parents, two or three kids, and the occasional extra child on a school playdate, the GLB does the job that usually demands something much bigger.
The middle row is the real living space. It's wide, the floor is flat enough, and three child seats across is tight but possible. RTA rules require a child seat for under-fours, and we'll fit one on request.
With five seats up, the boot holds about 570 litres, which is large for this class. Two big suitcases plus soft bags clear DXB arrivals without anyone holding a case on their lap. Fold the middle row and you get over 1800 litres, enough for a flat-pack run or a week of family kit.
Raise the third row, though, and the boot shrinks dramatically. With all seven seats in use there's room for a few soft bags and not much more. So the real choice on an airport run is people or luggage, rarely both at full capacity. For most Dubai families travelling five-up, the GLB is the rare premium SUV where the cases genuinely fit.
A tall, glassy cabin heats up fast when it's parked in 45-degree sun, and the GLB is no exception. The good news is the climate system is strong and the front vents pull a baked cabin down to comfortable within a few minutes of pulling away. Specify a car with rear vents and the second row cools properly too, which matters when kids are back there. Third-row passengers get less direct airflow, so on the hottest days start the car and let it run before you load everyone in. The pale Grey paint helps a little, since it reflects more heat than a dark finish.
On the highway the GLB is at its best. It cruises quietly at E11 speeds, the AWD keeps it planted, and long DXB or DWC airport runs pass without fatigue. Overtaking is easy and the cabin stays calm.
Around town it's taller than a hatch but still compact, so Marina towers and mall multi-storey bays don't intimidate it. The light steering makes U-turns and tight bays manageable, and the parking sensors do the rest. Ground clearance sits around 135 mm, which clears Dubai's speed bumps and mall ramps fine if you take the steep ones at an angle. This is a road SUV, not a dune machine, so leave the soft sand to a proper 4x4.
On running cost, the 60-litre tank and roughly 7.3 L/100km combined translate to close to 800 km of mixed driving on paper. Real Dubai use, with AC running flat out and stop-start traffic, lands higher, so plan on a fill-up roughly once a week of normal city driving rather than the brochure figure. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental are the renter's responsibility.
Rent the GLB 250 if you want a premium badge, a genuinely family-friendly cabin, and occasional seven-seat flexibility in a car that still parks like a normal SUV. It's the smart pick for families of four or five who want room to grow and comfort on the airport and highway runs.
Skip it if you're two people who never carry passengers, because the smaller GLA gives you the same Mercedes feel for less car than you need. And skip it if you regularly move six or seven adults, since the third row won't keep them happy and a full-size three-row SUV will. Match the car to how many people actually ride with you, and the GLB rewards you.
