The engine and how it drives

The GLA 250 runs a 2.0-litre turbo four making 221 hp through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, with FWD or 4MATIC all-wheel drive depending on the car. That's enough to make it feel quick in normal Dubai use. It pulls away cleanly and has the mid-range to overtake on Sheikh Zayed Road without planning ahead. The dual-clutch can feel a touch hesitant at very low crawling speed, which is the one quirk worth knowing, but once moving it shifts fast and smoothly.

Where 4MATIC is fitted you get more sure-footed traction on a wet ramp or a sandy car park edge. This is still a road-biased crossover, though, not a dune car, so treat soft desert sand as out of scope.
