Rent Mercedes G63 2025 in Dubai

Hand the keys to a valet outside a Downtown hotel and the first thing he asks usually isn't your name, it's whether this is the new one. The Mercedes G 63 AMG 2025 did get a real update this year, a 48-volt hybrid system tucked in behind that unmistakable V8, and plenty of renters assume it changes the car in some meaningful way. It mostly doesn't, and that's worth knowing before you book. We drop this one at your door anywhere in Dubai, usually within one to two hours, and the question this page settles is simple: does the 2025 update matter to you as a renter, or is it just a footnote on an old favourite.

What the 2025 update actually changes

Under the bonnet sits the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that AMG has built since 2019, one technician per engine, the plate signed by hand. What's new for 2025 is a 48-volt integrated starter-generator wedged between the engine and the gearbox. It can add up to 20 hp and 200 Nm for a second or two off idle, filling the flat spot before the turbos spool up. Peak output hasn't actually moved: still 585 hp and 850 Nm, sent through the nine-speed automatic and permanent all-wheel drive. The 0-100 km/h time drops from 4.5 seconds to 4.4, which is not a gap anyone will feel from the driver's seat.

What you will notice is how it answers low down. Pull away from a light on Al Wasl Road and there's less of a pause before the shove lands, and the electric power steering fitted this year, replacing the old hydraulic setup, is lighter at parking speeds. That helps more day to day than the extra tenth of a second ever will. None of it changes what the car is actually for. Start it cold and the exhaust still cracks off nearby glass, and a firm push still brings a hard, low V8 pull that gets noticed three lanes over. That noise, not the spec sheet, remains the entire pitch.

Threading a big box through small spaces

The G 63 is boxier than most SUVs its size, which sounds like a parking problem and mostly isn't. Five seats sit upright with real head room, and the flat glass and square corners make it easier to place in a bay than the width suggests. Load-wise, 480 litres sits behind the second row, enough for two full-size cases and a duffel for an airport run, though the tailgate hinges sideways with the spare wheel bolted to it rather than lifting up, so leave it room to swing before you back into a spot.

The number worth respecting is the width across the mirrors, a shade under 2.2 metres unfolded. A Marina tower ramp or an older mall's multi-storey will want them tucked in, and it pays to take corners slowly rather than trust the mirrors alone to judge the gap. Ground clearance of 241 mm makes those same ramps and the city's speed bumps a non-issue, no scraping, no crawling over them at an angle. Getting in is the part first-time renters underestimate. Even with the side steps, it's a genuine climb up into the cabin, worth planning for if you're lifting a child into a seat or arriving somewhere in a long dress.

A black G-Wagon at 45 degrees

This one comes in black, and black paint under a Dubai August sun does what black paint always does: it holds heat instead of shedding it. Add the amount of glass a G-Wagon carries and a car left in an open lot for a few hours comes back properly hot, hotter to the touch than a lighter car parked beside it. What saves it is the climate system, which is genuinely strong front and rear rather than the single-zone afterthought some SUVs in this class settle for. Start it, aim the vents at yourself, and the cabin drops from a wall of heat to comfortable within a couple of minutes, not the ten-minute wait some cars need. Give it that short head start before you strap kids into the back seats, and the rest of the drive stays as cool as anything else in the fleet.

The honest verdict on renting this one

None of this comes cheap to run. The tank holds 100 litres of premium, and while Mercedes quotes a combined 14.7 litres per 100 km, a week of Dubai traffic with the AC working hard pushes real consumption into the high teens. Plan on stopping for fuel more often than you would in almost anything else we carry. The rental allows 250 km a day, with extra kilometres billed at AED 0.5 each, and Salik tolls and any RTA fines land on the renter, same as any other car here. Because this is a luxury booking, a refundable deposit applies, and you need to be at least 25 to take the keys, older than the minimum age on most of our SUVs.

Book the 2025 G 63 if the reason you're renting is the reaction it gets: the V8 note, the shape, a week or a weekend where the car itself is part of the plan. The mild-hybrid update makes it a fraction smoother to drive at low speed, but it was never going to be the reason you book one, and it isn't a reason to skip one either. If what you actually need is a quieter cruiser for long days on the E11 or a family SUV that swallows a week's luggage without complaint, a GLS or a Range Rover costs less at the pump and asks less of you every time you climb aboard. The G 63 was built to be noticed, not to be sensible, and the 2025 changes don't touch that trade at all.
