Roll up to a DIFC hotel entrance in a Mercedes-AMG G 63 2025 and the valet has already clocked you before the door opens. That arrival is most of the reason anyone rents one in Dubai. The G 63 AMG is the car people turn to photograph on their way into the lobby, and this one wears white, which reads clean against a glass tower and shrugs off the sun a little better than a dark car does. We hand it over at your hotel, your home or the terminal, usually within one to two hours of booking. What this page settles is a single question: whether the noise and the presence earn their keep for your week, or whether a calmer SUV would serve you better.
The G 63 looks expensive and vaguely dangerous while sitting perfectly still. Then you start it. Under the bonnet is a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, the one an AMG technician assembles and signs by hand, and for 2025 it gains a 48-volt mild-hybrid that smooths out the low-rev response. Peak figures land at 585 hp and 850 Nm, sent through a nine-speed automatic and permanent all-wheel drive. It hits 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, which is comic for something shaped like a shipping container and weighing two and a half tonnes.
The stats are not really why you book it. The sound is. A cold start barks off the surrounding walls, and a firm push on the E11 brings a deep, hard-edged surge that people two lanes across turn to find. That is the product.
You should know how it actually drives, though. The steering is slow and vague, the tall body leans through bends, and past 120 you feel the flat, upright shape shoving at the air. It is a brick and never once pretends otherwise. Underneath sits a genuine 4x4 with three locking differentials and low range, properly capable in the rough, but that talent is trivia on a Dubai rental. Nobody drives a hired G 63 into the dunes, and you should not be the first to try.

For a car built around theatre, the G 63 copes with ordinary days better than the shape suggests. Five real seats, upright and roomy, and all that flat glass hands you a commanding view that makes threading it through traffic easier than the width would imply. The boot takes 480 litres behind the rear seats, enough for a DWC pickup with two large cases and a couple of soft bags. Just note the tailgate is side-hinged with the spare wheel bolted onto it, so park where you can swing it open.
The width is what asks for patience. Across the mirrors it runs close to 2.2 metres, so a narrow mall multi-storey or a tight residential bay means folding them in and going slowly. The upright, flat sides at least make the corners easy to place. Ground clearance of 241 millimetres turns speed bumps and steep parking ramps into nothing. The catch to flag before you book is the step-in height. The running boards help, but climbing aboard is a real climb, worth a thought if you are travelling with young kids or anyone in heels. And the ride stays firm over patched tarmac and expansion joints. This is the tough, upright thing it looks like, not a floaty limousine.
White paint reflects more of the Dubai sun than black does, so a G 63 left in an August car park bakes a shade less than its darker siblings. The big upright glass still soaks up plenty of heat, though, so the cabin is warm the moment you get back in. What saves it is a strong climate system, front and rear, with proper vents feeding the back seats rather than a weak trickle off the dash. The first minute after a long park is the hot one, then it pulls the temperature down fast. Inside, the quality is where the price makes sense. It feels like an occasion every time you climb in, not only when you are on the throttle.
The running cost is the honest downside. That 100-litre tank drinks premium, and while the official figure sits near 14.7 litres per 100 km, real city driving with the AC at full tilt pushes it into the high teens. Plan on regular fuel stops. Your daily allowance is 250 kilometres, then AED 0.5 for each kilometre beyond that, and Salik tolls and any RTA fines land on you as the renter. As a luxury rental it carries a refundable deposit, and you need to be 21 to take the keys.
Book the G 63 AMG if presence is the point: the hand-built V8, the noise, and a shape nothing else on the road matches. For arriving somewhere and being seen, whether that is one dinner or a full week, nothing in the class comes close.
Look elsewhere if comfort is what you are after. A Range Rover or a Mercedes GLS rides softer, runs quieter, drinks less and swallows more luggage, which makes either a better long-haul cruiser and a saner family car. The G 63 was never built to be that. Rent it for the drama and the badge, and it hands you exactly what you turned up for.
