The Mercedes G 63 AMG 2021 doesn't need an introduction, and that's most of the reason people rent one. The boxy silhouette has barely changed in over forty years, so a stranger in a Dubai car park can name the car from thirty metres without ever seeing the badge. That instant recognition is the actual product here, more than any number on a spec sheet, and we'd rather say so upfront than pretend you're booking it for the diff locks. We deliver this G 63 AMG to your hotel, villa or the arrivals hall, usually inside one to two hours of booking. The rest of this page is about what backs up that recognition once you're actually driving it.
Being recognisable only matters if the car earns the attention once it moves, and this one does. Under the bonnet is a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, assembled and signed by a single AMG technician, sending 585 hp and 850 Nm through a nine-speed automatic to all four wheels. Your 2021 is the pre-facelift car, built before Mercedes added the 48-volt assist that smooths the 2025's low-end response, so you feel a short beat of turbo lag off the line before the V8 lands hard and hauls two and a half tonnes to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The number is almost beside the point next to the sound: a hard crack on cold start, then a deep, layered roar under load that carries across two lanes on Sheikh Zayed Road. What it isn't is agile. The steering is slow and weighted for a truck, the tall body leans through roundabouts, and past 120 km/h the flat, upright front is visibly fighting the air rather than slicing through it. Underneath sits genuine off-road hardware, permanent all-wheel drive with three locking differentials and a low-range gearbox, more than capable of Hatta's rougher tracks. Almost nobody who books this car for a week in the city ever uses it, and that's fine. It rides along as proof of what the shape is built on, not as a reason to book it.

Five people fit properly, sitting upright with good headroom, and the high seating position makes it easier to place a car this size than the width suggests from outside. Behind the rear seats there's 480 litres of boot, enough for two large cases and a soft bag off an airport run, not three cases stacked with golf clubs on top. The tailgate swings sideways with the spare wheel bolted to it rather than lifting up, so leave real clearance behind the car before you try to open it in a tight bay. The number that actually decides your day is the width: close to 2.2 metres across the mirrors, wider than most bay lines were painted for, which means folding the mirrors in at a mall or a tower car park and taking corners slower than instinct suggests. The flat, dead-straight sides at least make the edges easy to judge once you're used to them. Ground clearance sits at 241 mm, so speed bumps and steep ramp entries are a non-event, and getting in is the other honest catch. The running boards help, but it's a climb into a high seat rather than a step, worth knowing if you're lifting a small child aboard or arriving in heels.
This is a thirsty car, and there's no version of the story where it isn't. The 100-litre tank takes premium, and while Mercedes quotes a combined figure near 14.7 litres per 100 km, a week of real Dubai driving with the AC working hard pushes that into the high teens. Expect to visit a station more often than a normal SUV asks. Parked white paint at least keeps the panels a little cooler through a July afternoon than a black G 63 would run, though the cabin still loads up heat regardless of colour, since most of what's baking is glass rather than metal. Climb back in after a few hours outside and the first breath is warm. What saves it is a genuinely strong climate system, front and rear, with real vents reaching the back seats rather than a faint draught off the dash, and it pulls the cabin down to comfortable within a minute or two of pulling away. Salik tolls and any RTA fines picked up during the rental are billed back to you as the renter, the same as any car in the fleet, and every seat needs a belt with a proper child seat required under four.
Rent the G 63 AMG if the shape and the noise are genuinely what you came for, whether that's one big evening at a hotel entrance or a full week of turning up in something everyone clocks. That's the honest sale, not a comfortable long-distance cruiser or a value pick. A Range Rover or a Mercedes GLS rides softer, drinks less and holds more luggage, and either makes more sense for a family week of school runs and mall trips where nobody's counting on the reaction outside. The rental includes 250 kilometres a day, then AED 0.5 for every kilometre past that, and because it's a luxury car a refundable deposit applies. The minimum driving age on this one is 25. Book it knowing exactly what you're paying for: the recognition is real, the running costs are the tax on it, and this page has told you both before you commit.
