What you get for that is a drivetrain that has been sorted for years. The 2.0-litre turbo four makes 255 hp and sends it to the rear wheels through a smooth 9-speed automatic, good for 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and a limited top speed of 250 km/h. It is quick enough to make an overtake on Sheikh Zayed Road easy without ever feeling like the point of the car. The fabric roof folds in about 20 seconds and will do it on the move at up to 50 km/h, so a light that catches you before you have dropped it does not cost you the moment.

Two-plus-two space, and the boot with the roof down

This is a 2+2, four seats, not five, whatever a listing elsewhere might claim. Two adults sit up front in real comfort. The rear pair works for kids, bags or a short hop with a shorter adult, but a tall adult behind a tall driver runs out of headroom fast under that folding roof, and climbing back there past the folded front seat is not graceful. Plan the car around two people and treat the back seats as a bonus, and it makes complete sense.

Once you climb back in, the front vents are strong and the cabin is small enough that they win the fight quickly, usually inside a couple of minutes of driving with the AC on full. The rear seats get less airflow, one more reason to treat them as occasional space rather than full-time seating. The 66-litre tank and a combined economy of roughly 7.8 to 8.6 L/100km put the rated range a bit above 750 km, though roof-down driving and a hard-working compressor will pull that down in real use. Standard Dubai terms apply on top: Salik tolls and any RTA fines come back to you as the renter, and seat belts are required in every seat, front and back.
