Your own car disappears into a workshop for a fortnight and the household still has the same week to get through. School run in the morning, a colleague to a meeting in Business Bay, relatives coming off a late flight. That mixed week is the booking a Mazda 6 handles well, and you can rent a Mazda 6 2024 in Dubai with 300 km a day included, which is enough that nobody in the family starts counting trips. We bring the car to you rather than making you collect it. What this page settles is whether one mid-size sedan genuinely covers all of those jobs, and where it quietly stops covering them.
Start with the school run, because it is the one that repeats. Two child seats fit across the back bench without the front seats having to move forward, and under RTA rules anyone under four needs a seat anyway, which we fit on request. Belts are mandatory in the back as well as the front, and that does get enforced here.
The second job is carrying adults who are not family. A 2,830 mm wheelbase buys real knee room behind a tall driver, so two colleagues in the back for a thirty minute run across town will not spend it rearranging their legs. Headroom is where the shape charges you. The roof drops toward the tail, so anyone over about six foot sits with their hair touching the lining. Four adults is the honest capacity. The middle rear seat is for a short hop to dinner and not much else.
The airport job is the easiest of the three. The boot is deep and long in the floor, so two big hard cases go in flat with soft bags stacked on top and a couple of backpacks after that. Add a folded pushchair and it still closes. What defeats it is height rather than volume, since this is a saloon opening and not a tailgate. A bicycle or a flat-pack wardrobe is a different car entirely.

The manufacturer combined figure is 6.3 L/100 km, and you should treat that as a laboratory result. Real Dubai use, with the air conditioning working and a school queue and a Business Bay crawl in the same morning, lands closer to 8 to 9 L/100 km. On the 62-litre tank that is roughly 700 real kilometres, so a normal fortnight means two visits to a station rather than five.
Your booking includes 300 km a day and extra kilometres run at AED 0.5. A school run, a cross-city meeting and an airport collection in the same day comes nowhere near that ceiling, so the allowance only becomes a live question if you add a weekend run down the coast. Salik tolls during the rental are yours, as is any RTA fine, and both settle after the car comes back.
On the highway this car earns its length. The long wheelbase settles at 120 km/h, tracks straight without constant small corrections, and stays quiet enough to take a call on speaker. What it will not do is leap. The 2.5-litre four makes 185 hp and 250 Nm with nothing forced behind it, so an overtake needs planning rather than a stab at the pedal. Roughly eight seconds to 100 km/h is adequate, and the six-speed at least behaves, holding a ratio on an incline instead of hunting for one.
Car parks are the tax. At 4,870 mm the nose and tail sit proud of bays painted for shorter cars, though at 1,840 mm the width is ordinary and you are not folding mirrors to get out. Reverse in when you can and the exit stops being a problem. No UAE source publishes a ground clearance figure the others agree with, so we will not quote one, but the shape tells you enough. Steep basement entries and the taller residential humps want a slow, square approach, and more so with the boot loaded and four people aboard.
Eight hours of July sun through a low roof and a lot of glass leaves an interior that is genuinely unpleasant for the first minute. Nothing about this car changes that, and a folding sunshade is worth the ten seconds.
The compensation is volume. There is far less air in a low sedan than in a crossover, so open both front doors for a few seconds to dump the worst of it, then drive, and the front is comfortable inside two or three minutes. The back bench sits close enough to the front outlets that rear passengers are not waiting much longer, which is not the case in a seven-seater. Buckles and cushions stay hot after the air has cooled, so warn anyone in shorts.
Mechanically, no, and we would rather say so. The 2024 GCC car carries the same 2.5-litre engine, the same 185 hp and 250 Nm, the same six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, on the same 4,870 mm body with the same 62-litre tank. What you gain is a younger car, which in a rental usually shows up as fewer kilometres on the odometer and a fresher interior rather than anything on a spec sheet. If a 2023 sits in front of you at a lower rate, take it. If they are close, take the newer one for the condition.
Rent it if you are covering a household's normal week with one car, mostly two or three people aboard, with a mix of city errands and highway kilometres and a basement or a shaded bay to park in. That is the week where a long, comfortable, well-steered sedan quietly does everything asked of it. Drivers from 18 can book it with us, which most Dubai desks will not allow.
Take something else in two situations. If four tall adults ride every day, the rear headroom will irritate one of them daily, and a Camry or an Accord gives you more room above the shoulders. If the fortnight includes a graded track, a beach access road or anything with sand on it, this is a low front-wheel-drive sedan with no business there, and a crossover is the honest answer.
