We hand over the Mazda 3 2025 to drivers who want a small car that doesn't feel like a budget rental, and in Dubai we can bring it to your door with the no-deposit option, so nothing is locked up on your card for the week. This is the 2.0-litre sedan, 150 hp, automatic, five seats. It sits in the economy class on price but drives and feels a clear step above it. The argument of this page is simple: if you want the nicest-looking, best-driving compact for your money, this is the one to book. If you need real rear-seat and boot room, read the honest parts below before you decide.
The 3 is Mazda's compact sedan, and the 2025 car keeps the long bonnet, low roof and clean sides that make it look more expensive than it is. The cabin is the real surprise. Soft materials where your hands land, a tidy dashboard, a proper rotary controller for the screen instead of a smeary touch panel. For a car at this rate, the inside feels like something from a class above.
Under the bonnet is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder making 150 hp, driving the front wheels through a six-speed automatic. It gets to 100 km/h in about 9.3 seconds. That's not fast on paper, but the gearbox is smooth and the steering is sharper than anything else you'll find at this price, so it feels quicker and more planted than the number suggests.
| Spec | Mazda 3 2025 (2.0L sedan) |
|---|---|
| Engine | 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol |
| Power | 150 hp |
| Transmission | 6-speed automatic |
| Drive | Front-wheel drive |
| Seats | 5 |
| 0-100 km/h | 9.3 seconds |
| Top speed | About 210 km/h |
| Fuel economy | About 7 L/100km in real Dubai driving |
| Fuel tank | 51 litres |
| Boot | 450 litres |
| Dimensions (L x W x H) | 4660 x 1795 x 1440 mm |
| Ground clearance | 135 mm |
This is where the 3 earns its keep. On the E11 it cruises quietly, holds a lane without wandering, and has enough in reserve for a confident overtake at 120. The refinement is the point. Wind and road noise are well controlled for the class, so a DXB or DWC airport run, or a longer drive out toward Abu Dhabi, isn't tiring.
Around town it's easy. At 4.66 metres long it's no harder to place than any other sedan, the steering is light at parking speed, and the 135 mm ground clearance clears Marina ramps and mall speed bumps without a scrape if you're sensible. Parking in a tight multi-storey bay is a non-issue.
Dubai summer is the real test, and a parked Mazda 3 bakes like anything else when it's 45 outside. The good news is the cabin is small and the front vents pump hard, so it pulls down to comfortable faster than a big SUV would. Rear passengers get vents too, which not every car this size offers. Park in shade if you can, run the AC for a minute before you load up, and the cabin copes well on the hottest days.
Here's where you need to be honest with yourself. The boot is 450 litres, which is decent for a compact sedan: two large cases plus a couple of soft bags swallow easily, so an airport run for two is no problem. The catch is the rear seat. The sloping roof and high window line make the back feel snug, and three adults across for a long trip is tight. Two adults and two kids on mall runs is fine. Four adults to Hatta and back is not the 3's happy place.
If passenger space is your priority over how the car looks and drives, a Toyota Corolla or Hyundai Elantra gives you more rear room for similar money, and a small SUV gives you both space and an easier step-in.
The 51-litre tank and the efficient 2.0-litre mean fuel is cheap to live with. Expect roughly 7 L/100km in normal Dubai stop-and-start use, which is a tank lasting most renters well over a week before a fill-up. On a steady highway run it does better.
Salik tolls run off the car and get billed to you, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to the renter as well, so keep an eye on your speed on the cameras along the E11. Seatbelts are required in every seat, and a child seat is the law for under-fours. None of this is unusual, it's just worth knowing before you set off.
Rent the Mazda 3 if you're one or two people who'd rather drive something that looks sharp and feels properly built than a plain economy box, and you don't regularly carry a full back seat of adults. For couples, solo business trips and city driving with the occasional highway run, it's the most satisfying car you can get at this price.
Skip it if four adults and a week of luggage are the norm. Then the snug rear seat works against you, and a Corolla, an Elantra or a small SUV is the smarter book. For everyone else, the 3 is the compact we'd put our own money on.
