If the sharp-looking hatchback is too tight in the boot, the Mazda 3 2024 sedan is the version that fixes it. We deliver it across Dubai within one to two hours, with a no-deposit plan and pay-on-delivery if you'd rather not put a card down first. This is the saloon body with the 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G engine, and the reason to rent it is the boot: a proper, deep trunk that takes the airport luggage the hatch can't, wrapped in a cabin that still feels a class above the usual economy car. It's the grown-up small car for a couple or a small family who want style without giving up the cases. Rear space is the limit, and this page is honest about it.
Start with the trunk, because it's the difference between the two body styles. The sedan holds around 444 litres, well clear of the hatchback's, and the shape is usefully square. Two large suitcases plus a couple of soft bags go in without a fight, which is exactly what a DXB or DWC pickup for two people needs. Fold the rear seats and you free up more for a bigger load. If your trip is luggage-heavy and you still want a small, sharp car, the sedan is the one that works.
The trade is flexibility, not capacity. A hatch swallows awkward, tall items more easily, but for suitcases the sedan's deep boot is the better tool.

The 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G makes 153 hp through a six-speed automatic to the front wheels. It isn't quick, but it's smooth and quiet, and the chassis stays composed through Marina curves and motorway sweepers. This is a car that prefers a calm cruise on the E11 to being thrashed. Overtaking at speed asks for a little patience, but it never gets noisy or strained doing it, and at 120 km/h the cabin stays settled and refined for the money.
Dubai heat is the real test. Parked in open July sun the first couple of minutes are unpleasant like any car here, but the modest cabin volume means the front vents pull the temperature down quickly once you're moving. Airflow to the back seat is weaker, so rear passengers feel the cool a little later. With people in the rear on a 45-degree afternoon, give the AC a head start before they get in.
Sit in the Mazda 3 and the finish is what stands out. The dash is low and clean, the materials are soft where your arm rests, and the switchgear has a weight most economy cars never bother with. The infotainment runs off a rotary dial rather than a touchscreen, which keeps your eyes on the lane on Sheikh Zayed Road. Up front, two adults get a quiet, well-isolated space that makes a short airport run feel like a nicer car than the rate suggests.
Here's where you decide. The back seat is fine for two adults on a shorter trip and tight for three, and knee room behind a tall driver is snug. For two kids it's comfortable; for four adults heading across town it's a squeeze. The sedan's longer body helps a little over the hatch, but this is still a compact car, and the rear bench is the limit rather than the strength.
The 51-litre tank and the efficient engine keep you away from the pump. On mixed Dubai driving, mostly stop-and-go with some highway, expect somewhere around 6 to 7 l/100km in real conditions, a little more in pure city crawl. That's most of a week on one fill, with a range close to 800 km when you're light on the highway. Fuel here is cheap, so the running cost barely registers.
At 4,662 mm long with 140 mm of clearance, the sedan parks easily in mall and Marina bays, though take steep ramps and speed bumps gently as you would in any low car. Salik tolls are billed to you, and any RTA fines during the rental pass to the renter, so watch the cameras on the E11. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and a child under four needs a child seat, which we can fit on request.
Rent the Mazda 3 2024 sedan if you're one or two people who want a small, good-looking car that still carries real airport luggage, drives quietly, and feels a step above its rate. For a couple on a Dubai week, it's one of the better-finished cars at this end of the market, and the boot is the reason to choose it over the hatchback.
Size up if you're regularly carrying four adults or tall passengers who'll live in the back seat. A Toyota Corolla or Hyundai Elantra gives a little more rear room, and a small SUV adds a higher seat and more space again. But if it's mostly two of you with cases to stow, the sedan hits the sweet spot between style, economy and a usable boot.
