We hand over the Range Rover Velar 2025 anywhere in Dubai, usually within one to two hours of your booking, so it can be parked outside your door before you've finished unpacking. The Velar is the design-led member of the Range Rover family: low, clean and quietly expensive-looking, with a cabin stripped of clutter. It rents well with couples and small families who want the badge and the styling more than maximum room or speed. That trade is the whole point of this page, because the Velar asks you to give up a little practicality for a lot of presence, and it's worth being honest about where that lands.
Two adults, a couple of kids and a week of mall runs and brunch reservations fit this car comfortably. The styling does most of the talking, and inside, the minimalist dash with its hidden vents and clean lines feels calmer than the busier German rivals. If your week is about looking the part on Sheikh Zayed Road and rolling up to a Marina restaurant, the Velar earns its rate.
Where it gets tighter is the rear bench and the boot. Three adults across the back works for a short hop, not a day out, and tall passengers will notice the sloping roofline eating headroom. A boxier SUV in the same money gives you more usable space. So if you're moving four adults plus their airport cases, or you want a third row, the Velar is the wrong call. Size up to a full Range Rover or pick a roomier mainstream SUV.

The 673-litre boot is genuinely useful for the class, and that's one area where the Velar doesn't disappoint. Two large hard cases plus a couple of soft bags go in flat for a DXB or DWC airport run, and the wide opening makes loading easy at the kerb. The catch is the rear seat, not the boot. Fill all five seats and the people will run out of room before the luggage does. For two people and a week's worth of bags, you're well covered. For a full car of adults heading to the airport, the boot is fine but the cabin is the bottleneck.
The 2.0-litre turbo with mild-hybrid assist makes 300 hp and gets to 100 in six seconds flat, which sounds brisk on paper. In practice this engine is tuned for comfort, not drama. It pulls cleanly onto the E11 and overtakes without fuss, and the eight-speed auto is happy to glide rather than charge. What you won't get is the shove or the noise of the six-cylinder Velars further up the range. That suits the car. Nobody rents a Velar to set lap times; they rent it to arrive relaxed, and at that it's very good.
On fuel, the combined 7.8 L/100km figure is a lab number. Real Dubai driving, with the AC working hard and traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road, lands higher, closer to the 10 to 11 range in town. With a 63-litre tank you'll still get a comfortable week of city driving between fills, and a single tank covers most airport-and-back routines several times over.
A parked Velar in a Dubai summer turns into an oven like anything else, and at 45°C the first few minutes matter. The climate system pulls the cabin down at a steady, civilised pace rather than a violent blast, and the rear vents mean kids in the back aren't left baking while the front cools first. The seats can get hot to the touch after a few hours in open sun, so if you can park in shade or a basement, do. Once it's cooled, the cabin holds temperature well and stays quiet, which is where the Velar's refinement actually shows.
At 4.8 metres long and just under two metres wide, the Velar is a midsize SUV that needs a bit of thought in tight multi-storey bays and on Marina ramps. It's not unwieldy, but it's wider than it looks, and the standard cameras and sensors earn their keep when you're threading into a narrow mall bay. The 213 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai speed bumps and steep parking ramps without scraping, and the air-suspension ride soaks up the worst of the patched-up surfaces nicely. The all-wheel drive handles a firm beach track or a graded desert road, but this is a road car at heart. Leave the soft dunes to a proper 4x4.
A couple of practical notes for any Dubai rental. Salik tolls run on the car and pass to you, as do any RTA fines picked up during your rental. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a child seat, which we can fit on request. Stricter security terms may apply to a vehicle in this class, so it's worth confirming the deposit and driver requirements when you book.
Rent the Velar if you're a couple or a small family who wants Range Rover style, a calm cabin and a plush, quiet ride, and you're happy to trade outright space and pace for that. It's one of the better-looking SUVs you can put on a Dubai driveway, and it backs the looks with a smooth drivetrain and a genuinely usable boot. But don't rent it expecting limousine rear room or sports-SUV pace. If you're carrying four adults and luggage often, or you want serious off-road or third-row practicality, step up to a full-size Range Rover or choose a boxier mainstream SUV that gives you the space the Velar quietly sacrifices for its shape.
