Of the Range Rovers you can rent in Dubai, the Range Rover Velar 2022 is the one that asks the least of you and gives back the most comfort. We deliver it to your door with 250 km a day included, which covers a Marina-to-Downtown commute and an airport run without you watching the odometer. This is the calm, cushioned cruiser in the range rather than the brash one, and it happens to be the most sensible way into the Range Rover badge. The question this page settles is simple: is the Velar refined and roomy enough for your week, or do you actually need something bigger and harder-edged.
The 2022 Velar here runs the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol four, 300 hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic and full-time all-wheel drive. There's a 48-volt mild-hybrid system underneath that smooths the stop-start and shaves a little fuel in traffic, though you'll rarely notice it working. Zero to 100 km/h takes 6.0 seconds and it tops out at 234 km/h, so it's quick without being a sports SUV. The real character is the gearbox and the suspension working together to make speed feel effortless. On a relaxed Sheikh Zayed Road cruise it's quiet, planted and unbothered, which is the whole point of this car.
| Spec | Figure |

| Transmission | 8-speed automatic |
| 0-100 km/h | 6.0 seconds |

| Fuel tank | 63 litres |
| Dimensions (L×W×H) | 4803 × 1930 × 1665 mm |
| Ground clearance | 213 mm (up to 251 mm on air suspension) |
| Boot | 558 L seats up, 1731 L folded |
| Seats | 5 |
The Velar's job is to make a long, hot drive feel shorter, and it does that well. The seats are wide and supportive, the ride on the air suspension irons out broken tarmac, and road noise stays low even at 120. That matters more in Dubai than anywhere, because you spend real time in this car.
On cooling, be realistic about a parked cabin in July. Left in the sun at 45°C, the interior bakes like any car, and the first minute with the AC on full is about clearing the worst of it. After that the system pulls the cabin down to comfortable within five minutes or so, helped by rear vents that keep back-seat passengers from cooking. The leather gets genuinely hot to the touch, so the seats need a moment. None of this is a Velar fault, it's a Dubai fact, but the rear vents and strong front blowers mean this cabin recovers faster than most.
You get 558 litres behind the rear seats, which is a proper boot. For a couple flying in, two large suitcases and a couple of soft bags go in without a fight, and the load floor is wide and flat. Four adults with a week of luggage each is where it tightens up, and you'd start using the back seat or dropping one half of the split bench. Fold both seats and you have 1731 litres, enough for flat-pack runs or a desert-camping load. For the airport, DXB or DWC, the boot swallows a full family's cases and you still close the powered tailgate one-handed.
At 1930 mm across the body, the Velar is a wide car, and you feel it in older multi-storey bays and on tight Marina ramps. The mirrors fold and the cameras are good, so once you've parked it a few times it stops feeling intimidating, but it's not a point-and-squeeze city runabout. Where it earns back the width is ground clearance. On the air suspension you can lift it well above the standard 213 mm, so steep mall ramps and the aggressive speed bumps around the city don't scrape the nose. That alone makes it more relaxing than a low-slung sedan over Dubai's bump-heavy roads.
The official combined figure is 7.8 L/100km, but plan for the real world. In Dubai traffic and summer AC load you'll see closer to 11 to 12, and the 63-litre tank then gives you a usable range of roughly 500 to 550 km. For most renters that's a fill every four or five days of normal city driving, less if you're commuting hard on the E11. Petrol is cheap here, so the bill is modest. Keep in mind that Salik tolls and any RTA fines run on the car pass to you, seat belts are required in every seat, and a child seat is mandatory for under-fours.
Rent the Velar 2022 if you want a Range Rover that's about quiet comfort and easy long-distance cruising rather than presence and outright size: a couple or a small family who'll do airport runs, highway stints and city errands and want to arrive relaxed. It's the smart-value entry to the badge, and as a five-seater it covers most trips comfortably. Size up to a Range Rover Sport or full-size Range Rover only if you genuinely need seven seats, more rear legroom for three adults across, or serious towing. And if you're chasing a sharper, more design-led cabin, the 2023 Velar is the sibling to look at. For a refined week behind the wheel without overpaying, this is the one we'd point you to.
