The Range Rover Sport 2025 is the current L461 generation, the one that arrived with cleaner surfaces, a near-flush grille and the kind of road presence most SUVs wearing a Sport badge only borrow. It's the lower, keener car in the family, built to drive rather than to be driven in. Under the bonnet is the 3.0-litre Ingenium inline-six with mild-hybrid assist, making 355 hp through an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. That's brisk rather than brutal, reaching 100 km/h in around six seconds, and it's more than enough to make Sheikh Zayed Road effortless. If you want the drama of the V8, this base engine isn't it, and there's no need to pretend otherwise. What you're paying for is the calm, the air suspension and the way a car this tall stays composed when you lean on it.

Space, boot and the daily drive

Five seats, and that's the car you'll get, because the Sport doesn't offer a third row. What five people get is space that feels expensive. Two adults sit behind two tall front passengers with room to spare, and the rear middle seat works for a child rather than a fourth adult on a long run. The boot holds 835 litres and opens past 1,800 with the seats folded, so a DXB pickup with three large hard cases and a few soft bags loads flat without any shuffling.

Then there's the size. At just under five metres long and a shade over two metres wide across the body, the Sport is easier to thread than the full-size Range Rover, but it's still a big car in a tight multi-storey. The rear-wheel steering earns its keep here, tightening the turning circle so U-turns and narrow ramps ask for less wrestling than the footprint suggests. Air suspension and the ground clearance make speed bumps and steep mall entrances non-events. Rear passengers have their own vents, so guests settle within a minute or two of setting off. On the worst days, the cooled front seats take the sting out of hot leather when you first climb back in. Park in shade or a basement where you can and those first few minutes are easier again.

Who should rent it, and who should look either side

Rent the Range Rover Sport 2025 if you want a real Range Rover for a Dubai week, the presence and the luxury, in a body that's keener to drive and less of a handful to park than the full-size car. For meetings, airport runs and family days out, it's the sweet spot in the range, and few SUVs arrive as well for the money.

Look either side in two cases. If the back seat is the whole point of the booking, or you want the quietest, roomiest cruise, size up to the full-size Range Rover. And if you want the sharpest driver's SUV rather than the most luxurious, a Porsche Cayenne is more engaging through a corner for less outlay. Go in with the terms clear too. As a premium rental the Sport takes a refundable deposit confirmed at booking, so it isn't the no-deposit option. Your allowance is 250 km a day, then AED 0.5 for each extra kilometre, and you'll need to be 21 to take the keys.
