We hand over the Range Rover Sport 2024 across Dubai with payment kept flexible and settled on delivery, so the paperwork most desks insist on up front doesn't slow you down. This is the sharper, sportier member of the Range Rover family. It sits lower and drives tauter than the full-size flagship, keeps the plush cabin you'd expect, and still has the air suspension and four-wheel drive to climb a dune if you point it at one. The question this page settles is simple: who actually needs this car over a comfort-first big Range Rover or something smaller and easier to park.
The Sport is built around a 3.0-litre inline-six with mild-hybrid assistance, sending power to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic. It's quick without trying to be a sports car, and the way it shrinks around you at speed is the whole point. On Sheikh Zayed Road it cruises flat and quiet, and an overtake at 120 takes one squeeze of the throttle rather than a run-up. The flagship Range Rover wafts; the Sport leans into corners less and changes direction with more intent. If you've driven the bigger car and found it floaty, this is the one you wanted.
That tauter feel does cost you a little ride softness over Dubai's harsher expansion joints, though the air springs smooth out most of it. Nobody in the back will complain.

Leave it under the July sun and the cabin will be brutal when you open the door, the same as any car here. What matters is recovery, and the Sport's climate system pulls a 45-degree cabin down to something civil within a few minutes of driving. There are rear vents, so passengers in the back aren't left waiting on cold air that never reaches them. The cooled-seat function, where the car has it, earns its keep on the school run. Crack the windows for the first thirty seconds and you'll cut the worst of the trapped heat before the AC even catches up.
Five seats, and a boot that genuinely swallows a week's worth of bags. Two large suitcases stand upright with room for soft bags around them, which covers a family flying into DXB or DWC with full cases. Fold the rear bench and it turns cavernous, fine for a flat-pack run or bikes. Where it falls short is the third row: there isn't one. If you regularly carry six or seven, this isn't your car, and you'd want a longer seven-seat SUV instead. For four adults plus airport luggage, though, the Sport has space to spare and the comfort to make a Hatta day trip painless.
This is a wide, long SUV, and Dubai's older multi-storey bays were not drawn with it in mind. In Marina towers and the tighter mall basements you'll use every centimetre of the bay and lean on the camera suite, which the car gives you in good resolution. The turning circle is better than the footprint suggests, so U-turns don't become three-point affairs. Speed bumps and steep mall ramps are a non-issue: raise the air suspension and the Sport clears obstacles that scrape lower crossovers. If your week is mostly cramped urban parking and short hops, a smaller crossover will save you stress.
This is the car's home ground. The Sport is composed at the speeds the E11 invites, and the cabin stays hushed enough for a phone call at 140 down to the limit. For desert work, the combination of proper four-wheel drive, 281 mm of clearance on raised suspension and a 900 mm wading depth means Hatta tracks and soft sand are well within its ability, not a marketing claim. Drop the tyre pressures, switch the terrain modes to sand, and it'll do what far pricier hardware does. Most renters won't push it that far, but the capability is real, and it's the reason to pick this over a road-only luxury SUV.
A 90-litre tank is large, which is just as well because this is a heavy, powerful SUV and it drinks accordingly. Expect somewhere around 12 to 14 litres per 100 km in Dubai's mix of crawling traffic and highway sprints, worse if you lean on the performance. On a calmer combined run it'll sit nearer 10. A full tank still gives you a comfortable week of city driving plus an airport run or two before you're back at the pump. Salik tolls run on your account, and any RTA speed fines or charges during the rental pass to you, so keep an eye on the gantries and the limits. Belts are mandatory in every seat and under-fours need a child seat.
Rent the Range Rover Sport 2024 if you want a premium SUV that's actually fun to drive, looks sharper than the flagship, and can handle a desert weekend without flinching. It's the right call for a driver, not just a passenger. If your priority is the softest possible ride and rear-seat lounge comfort, the full-size Range Rover is the better pick. If you're mostly doing tight city parking and short errands, or you need six or seven seats, size down to a crossover or up to a three-row SUV. Just know that the headline thirst is real and a heavily optioned example can feel like a different, pricier car, so confirm exactly what you're getting. Stricter security terms may apply on a vehicle in this class, worth checking at booking.
