Black is the colour most Range Rover Sport renters ask for by default, and on this car's redesigned L461 body it earns that popularity rather than riding on it. Park it outside a hotel entrance next to a row of dark SUVs and the low roofline, the flush glass and the width across the shoulders are what set the Range Rover Sport 2022 apart, not the paint. We deliver it to your hotel, villa or the airport, usually within one to two hours of booking. This is the third-generation Sport, lower and sharper to drive than the car it replaced, built with the road as the priority and everything else as a bonus. What this page settles is whether that mix of presence and pace fits your week, or whether another car on the fleet suits you better.
Under the bonnet is Land Rover's 3.0-litre mild-hybrid inline six, making 355 hp and 500 Nm through an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The run to 100 km/h takes about six seconds, brisk rather than explosive, and that's the honest way to describe it. This is the entry petrol in the Sport range, not the supercharged V8, so don't expect drama pulling away from a red light. What it does deliver is confidence at real speed. On Sheikh Zayed Road the mid-range pulls cleanly through an overtake, and the air suspension keeps the cabin flat and quiet well past 120 km/h, so a long airport run or a drive out toward Abu Dhabi doesn't wear you down the way a stiffer SUV would. That calm is the real product here, not outright pace.

| Drive | All-wheel drive |

| Fuel tank | 90 litres |

Five seats, and no third row is hiding anywhere in the spec sheet. Two adults sit comfortably behind two tall front seats, and the middle rear position suits a child better than a fourth adult on a long haul. The boot holds 835 litres with the rear seats up, enough for a full set of hard cases without folding anything down, and opens to roughly 1,860 litres with the seats flat for a bulk supermarket run or extra gear before guests arrive.
At 4,946 mm long and just over two metres wide across the body, this generation is a genuine size to manage in a tight multi-storey or a Marina tower bay, more than the badge suggests before you've actually driven one. Rear-wheel steering, new to this generation, tightens the effective turning circle enough that a U-turn or an awkward ramp takes fewer moves than the length implies. Ground clearance rises to around 278 mm on the air suspension, so speed bumps and steep mall entrances pass without a thought, and the car will manage a graded track to a desert villa if you need it to. None of that means you should point a rented Sport at open sand. Keep it on the tarmac and it does its real job well. Salik tolls and any RTA fines picked up during the rental come back to you, as on any car here, and anyone under four needs a proper child seat.
Black is the one colour that makes a Dubai afternoon work a little harder for you. A cabin this size, usually sitting under a panoramic roof, takes on real heat after a few hours in an open lot, and dark paint starts that cool-down from a hotter baseline than white or a lighter grey would. None of that is a reason to avoid it. The climate system is strong enough to catch up within a minute or two once you're moving, and it cools evenly front to back rather than leaving rear passengers waiting on drift from the dash vents. On the worst afternoons, cooled front seats take the sting out of hot leather when you climb back in, and parking in shade or a basement level, where you can, shortens that first uncomfortable stretch.
The tank holds 90 litres of premium petrol, and the official combined figure sits around 10 to 11 litres per 100 km. Treat that as a best case rather than a promise. A week of Dubai stop-start traffic with the AC working against the heat pushes real consumption higher, so budget for more fuel stops than the spec sheet suggests. Your allowance on this rental is 250 km a day, then AED 0.5 for every extra kilometre after that, which covers most weeks here comfortably unless you're making repeat runs to Abu Dhabi.
Rent the Range Rover Sport 2022 if you want the current Range Rover shape, the ride and the badge, for a week that's mostly city driving, meetings and airport runs with the odd rough patch thrown in. The engine won't win any arguments about outright pace, but the composure it drives with is the actual point of the car, and in black it looks the part parked outside any hotel in the city.
Look elsewhere in a few cases. If four adults with a full set of airport luggage is the real brief, the full-size Range Rover has more rear-seat room than any Sport, this one included. If the sharper driver's SUV matters more than the plushest one, a Porsche Cayenne is livelier through a corner for less money. And if outright drama from the engine is what you're after, this base six isn't built to deliver it, so look at the V8 further up the range instead. Go in with the terms clear: as a premium SUV this rents against a refundable deposit confirmed at booking rather than a no-deposit option, and you'll need to be 25 to take the keys.
