We hand over the Land Rover Range Rover 2020 across Dubai with the no-deposit option, so the full-size flagship reaches your hotel or villa without a five-figure hold sitting on your card for the week. This is the big one, not the Sport and not the Evoque. You get a serene, leather-lined cabin, a commanding view over traffic, and genuine off-road ability under all that comfort. The question this page answers is a simple one: is the full-size Range Rover the right rental for your week here, or are you paying for size and capability you'll never use on Sheikh Zayed Road?
This listing is the 3.0-litre supercharged V6, rated at 335 hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic and permanent four-wheel drive. Power arrives without drama, the box shuffles ratios quietly, and 0 to 100 km/h comes up in about 7.5 seconds, which is enough to move two-and-a-half tonnes of aluminium with authority. Top speed sits around 209 km/h, far beyond anything Dubai's limits will let you use.
The cabin is where the money goes. Five deep, supportive seats, with rear passengers getting their own air vents, which matters more than it sounds. Visibility is the real luxury. You sit high, you see over the Land Cruisers around you, and on a long airport run that elevated, quiet seating position is restful in a way a sedan can't match.

Dubai summers push past 45°C, and a black Range Rover left in open sun gets brutally hot inside. The climate system is strong, and the rear vents mean back-seat passengers cool down at roughly the same pace as the front. Expect the first two or three minutes to be unpleasant regardless of the car. After that the large cabin settles and holds a cold, even temperature without the compressor straining.
For DXB or DWC pickups, this is close to the ideal rental. The boot swallows several large hardshell cases with room to spare, the load floor is flat, and you can fold the rear seats if you're moving more than people. Two couples with a week of luggage fit without anyone compromising, and the air-sprung ride makes the run in from either airport feel like nothing.
Be honest about the footprint. At nearly five metres long and just under two metres wide at the body, this car fills a standard mall bay and demands care in the tighter Marina multi-storey ramps. The 360 camera and parking sensors do most of the work, but you'll still take U-turns wide and reverse into spaces you'd nose into with a hatchback. Speed bumps are a non-issue, since the air suspension and high clearance let you glide over the ones that scrape lower cars.
On the E11 and Sheikh Zayed Road it's in its element. The Range Rover cruises at the limit barely breathing, soaks up expansion joints, and has the punch to overtake cleanly. This is a highway car first.
The thirst is real, so plan for it. In stop-and-go traffic and short hops, expect somewhere around 14 to 16 litres per 100 km. A steady highway cruise improves that, but this is never a frugal car. The 105-litre tank gives a useful working range, so on mixed driving you're realistically filling up once, maybe twice, in a normal week rather than every other day. Use premium petrol.
Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, so keep to the cameras. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and children under four need a proper child seat.
This is where the full-size Range Rover earns its badge over rivals that only look the part. With permanent four-wheel drive, raisable air suspension and 900 mm of wading depth, it has real ability on graded desert tracks and the routes up toward Hatta. Terrain Response lets you dial in sand, and the extra clearance keeps the underbody clear of ruts that would beach a road-biased crossover. You won't go dune-bashing in a rental, and you shouldn't, but for desert resorts and rough access roads it's genuinely capable rather than cosmetic.
Rent the full-size Range Rover if you want the most comfortable, commanding way to cover Dubai's highways and airport runs, you're carrying real luggage or four adults in comfort, or you actually plan to leave the tarmac for a desert resort. Nothing in this class is more relaxing over a long week.
Look elsewhere if your week is mostly Marina errands and tight parking, or if you're cost-conscious about fuel. A Range Rover Sport gives you most of the road presence with a slightly easier footprint, and a smaller luxury SUV like a Velar or an X5 is far simpler to park and noticeably cheaper to feed. One more honest note: a 2020 example is loaded with screens and menus, so leave a few minutes at handover to set up the displays before you drive off. If you want the flagship experience and the genuine capability, this is the car. If you don't need either, you're paying for both.
