Plan a Friday on the dunes and a week of Sheikh Zayed Road commuting around it, and the Land Rover Defender 2025 covers both in one booking. We rent it in Dubai with doorstep delivery in one to two hours, and you settle however suits you on the day, from cards and bank transfer to Apple Pay, Google Pay or crypto. This listing is the three-door 90 with the supercharged 5.0-litre V8, the P525, so 525 hp and a 5.4-second sprint to 100 km/h sit on top of full off-road hardware. The question worth answering before you book is whether you'll actually use both halves of that, because the short-wheelbase V8 commands a premium and only repays it if the desert and the drama are part of your plan.
The reason to pay for this car is the hardware most rivals only imitate. The 90 runs permanent all-wheel drive, low range, and air suspension that raises ground clearance to 291 mm in off-road height, with a 900 mm wading depth that handles a flooded wadi after rain. Terrain Response has a real sand mode that manages traction once you drop the tyre pressures, so a Hatta track or a desert camp is within reach rather than just within the brochure.
The short wheelbase is an advantage out there. On steep, broken climbs the 90 clears ground the longer 110 can scrape, and the tighter body is easier to thread between rocks. It's still wide and heavy, so soft technical dunes reward a driver who knows how to read sand, but for firm desert tracks and gravel runs it goes where rental crossovers simply stop.

On tarmac the V8 is the half most people underrate until they drive it. The supercharger gives instant shove from low revs, the eight-speed auto drops a gear cleanly, and overtaking on the E11 needs no run-up. It settles into a quiet, planted cruise at the limit, and the noise on a hard pull is loud enough to turn heads at a hotel forecourt.
That performance has a running cost, and there's no soft way to put it. A supercharged V8 moving well over two tonnes is thirsty, and Dubai's stop-start traffic with the AC working hard pushes consumption past the official 14.7 L/100km, nearer 16 to 18 litres per 100 km in mixed city use. The 90-litre tank gives a usable highway range, but a heavy week of city driving puts you at the pump every couple of days. If the V8's sound and pace are why you're here, that's part of the deal. If they aren't, you're paying for an engine you won't enjoy.
The 90 is a five-seater, and it's honest to call it a two-plus-occasional car rather than a family wagon. The rear bench takes two adults or a pair of kids comfortably, with access through a folded front seat, and three across the back is a short-trip arrangement at best. Behind the seats the boot holds 397 litres, fine for two people's luggage and soft bags. Fold the bench and you get a flat 1563-litre load bay that handles camping kit or a big shop with ease.
So match it to the trip. Two travelling to the desert with gear, it's ideal. Four adults landing at DXB or DWC with full cases, the boot fills fast and the long 110 is the better call. We'll switch you across without fuss.
Park it in open July sun and the cabin gets brutally hot, like everything in Dubai, but the climate system has real output. The front vents pull the temperature down within a few minutes of moving, and the shorter cabin means the cold air reaches the back quickly, which counts on an afternoon pickup with passengers who've been baking.
Size works in your favour here against the long Defender. At about 4.58 metres the 90 fits a standard mall bay and slots into Marina basements that make the 110 a careful, fold-the-mirrors job. The 291 mm of clearance turns speed bumps, mall ramps and raised kerbs into a non-event. Two notes to set before you go: Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, and an under-four needs a child seat we can fit on request. The car rents from 18, with 250 km included each day.
Rent the Defender 90 V8 2025 if you want the fastest, most capable short-body 4x4 on our fleet, you travel one or two up, and your week genuinely mixes desert plans with road miles where the V8 earns its keep. It's the pick for a couple's Hatta weekend, a statement arrival, or a driver who wants real off-road kit without the bulk of the 110.
Skip it if you carry four adults and luggage often, if you'll never leave the tarmac, or if the fuel bill is the figure you're watching. For full family space, step up to the 110. For a quiet city week, a softer crossover sips far less and parks just as easily. This car's argument is the breadth between a fast road cruise and a serious desert run, so book it only when you'll drive both ends of it.
