Land Rover Range Rover Velar 2025 - start from 741 AED / day

Pull up to a Marina restaurant or a DIFC meeting in a Range Rover Velar 2025 and the car says what you came to say before you've opened the door. We rent it in Dubai with delivery to your door in one to two hours, and that's really the pitch here: this is the Range Rover you book when the look and the badge matter as much as the drive. The 2025 car keeps the Velar's clean, almost concept-car styling, with the flush door handles and the wide stance that still turn heads three years after rivals tried to copy it. Our take is that this is a statement SUV for two adults, or a couple with a child, who want presence and a calm, plush cabin over outright space. If you're hauling four adults and a week of luggage every day, read the boot section before you commit.

Why people pick the Velar over the rest of the range

The Velar sits between the Evoque and the larger Range Rover Sport, and that middle ground is the point. It's long enough to look imposing on Sheikh Zayed Road but not so big that it becomes a chore in a multi-storey car park. The cabin is the real draw. Minimalist dash, deep seats, and the kind of quiet that makes a 45-minute crawl down the E11 feel like nothing. After a day in the heat, sinking into the Velar is part of what you're paying for.

Most of the cars we hand over run the P250 2.0-litre turbo petrol, making 247 hp through an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. That's plenty for Dubai. It pulls cleanly away from lights, settles into a relaxed cruise at 120, and has enough in reserve to overtake without drama. Higher-output six-cylinder and plug-in versions exist, but for a week of city driving and airport runs the 2.0 petrol does everything you'll ask of it.

Boot space and whether your luggage fits

This is where the Velar asks you to be honest about your trip. The boot is a good size for two people, comfortably swallowing a couple of large cases plus soft bags for a week. The catch is the sloping roofline that gives the car its looks. It trims the upright space you'd get in a boxier SUV, so tall, hard items stack less neatly than the numbers suggest. Two adults heading to DXB with two large suitcases each: fine. Four adults with four full-size cases collected from the airport: tight, and you'll be folding part of the rear bench, which then cuts into back-seat room. If your week is built around big family luggage runs, a Range Rover Sport or a three-row SUV makes more sense.

Parking, ramps and city manners

At 4.8 metres long and just over two metres wide at the mirrors, the Velar is a wide car, and you feel that in older multi-storey bays around the malls and in Marina's tighter ramps. The flip side is the high seating position and the standard cameras, which take most of the guesswork out of squeezing into a bay. Ground clearance is generous at 214 mm, rising to 251 mm if the car is on air suspension, so Dubai speed bumps and the steep lips at mall entrances don't make you wince. It's an all-wheel-drive car with real clearance, but it's set up for tarmac and the odd graded track, not for tackling soft dunes. For a desert drive proper, you'd want a body-on-frame 4x4.

Staying cool when it's 45 outside

A parked Velar bakes like any car left in a Dubai summer, but the recovery is strong. The climate system pulls the cabin down quickly once you're moving, the front vents hit hard, and rear passengers get their own outlets so nobody in the back is left suffering. The thicker glass and solid insulation that make the Velar so quiet also help it hold the cold once it's there. Give it a minute with the doors shut after pickup and it's genuinely comfortable, which counts for a lot in July.

The running costs that fall to you

A couple of Dubai basics worth knowing before you set off. Salik tolls are charged to you as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fines during the rental are passed on as well. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and a child seat is required by law for under-fours, which we can fit on request. None of this is unusual, but the Velar's natural habitat is Sheikh Zayed Road and the toll gates there add up over a week, so it's worth budgeting for.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Velar 2025 if you want a Range Rover that looks like a million dirhams, drives with real polish, and turns the daily grind of Dubai traffic into something calm. It's ideal for a couple or a small family who value presence and cabin quality over maximum boot space. If you regularly carry four adults with full luggage, size up to a Range Rover Sport or a seven-seater. And if you genuinely plan to head off-road into the dunes rather than just look the part, this isn't the Land Rover for that job. Choose the Velar for what it does best, which is making every arrival feel like an occasion.
