The 3.0 six-cylinder mild hybrid, and how it drives

The engine in this row is the P360, a 3.0-litre Ingenium mild-hybrid inline-six making 355 hp and 500 Nm, sent through an eight-speed automatic to a permanent all-wheel-drive system. Zero to 100 km/h takes around six seconds, enough to close a gap on Sheikh Zayed Road in one confident push without anyone in the cabin noticing you had to work for it. The P360 isn't chasing V8 drama, and it doesn't need to: it trades outright theatre for a calmer, more composed six that stays quiet at a cruise and doesn't need revving to feel responsive. Air suspension is standard, and on this new chassis it reads noticeably tighter through a roundabout or a fast on-ramp than the shape it replaced, without giving up the settled ride that's the entire point of paying for a Range Rover.

Room for five, and what the bigger boot buys you

Five seats only. This generation still skips the third row some rivals in the class offer, and the trade shows up in how the back bench and boot get used instead. The load area holds 835 litres with the rear seats up, enough for a full-size case each for two passengers plus the soft bags and duty-free that come with an airport pickup, and folding the second row flat opens it to around 1,860 litres for a proper supermarket run or moving a week's worth of luggage for four. At 4,946 mm long and just over two metres wide, this isn't a small car, and a Marina tower ramp or an older multi-storey bay wants a slow, deliberate line rather than a confident swing in. Where the width earns itself back is ground clearance: air suspension lifts the car to around 278 mm at its highest setting, so the steep dip into a villa driveway or a speed bump taken a touch too fast doesn't scrape the way it would in a lower SUV. This is a road car built to be genuinely capable off it if the situation calls for it, not something we'd send out to Hatta on a rented booking, but nothing about an ordinary Dubai week troubles it.

Running cost, heat and the cabin

The mileage allowance on this booking is 250 km a day, with AED 0.5 for every kilometre after that, in line with the rest of the fleet rather than a special figure for this car. For ordinary Dubai driving that's generous: Downtown to the Marina and back a couple of times, an airport run, a week of errands, all inside the daily figure without watching the odometer. It gets tighter if the plan includes a day trip out to Al Ain or Abu Dhabi and back on the same day, worth working out before you book rather than after. The tank holds 90 litres of petrol, and the official combined figure sits around 10 to 11 L/100km, a number that a Dubai summer with the AC working hard tends to push higher rather than lower, so treat it as a starting point and budget a stop partway through a heavy week.

Grey is a sensible colour to have landed on for this climate. It doesn't carry the heat penalty of a black car left in an open lot through a July afternoon, and it hides road dust and light scuffs better than white does between washes. None of that changes the basic physics of a big glasshouse and, on most Sport trims, a panoramic roof: a parked cabin at 45 degrees still gets properly hot, and the honest advice is the one we give on every car in this class, crack a window for the first minute and give the AC a head start rather than climbing straight in and waiting it out. Once you're moving, the system pulls the cabin down within a couple of minutes, and rear passengers get their own vents rather than drift from the front. The P360 six does real work on Sheikh Zayed Road without being the flagship engine, the boot handles a family's worth of airport luggage, and grey is one of the easier colours to live with here through summer.

Look elsewhere if outright straight-line pace is the point, this isn't the flagship engine and doesn't try to be, or if five seats aren't enough, the Sport doesn't offer a third row at all. If your week is mostly tight city parking and short hops, a smaller SUV will be easier to place in a multi-storey bay and cheaper to run.
