Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2021 - start from 586 AED / day

Renting a Range Rover Sport 2021 in Dubai puts you in a full-size luxury SUV with a genuine badge, and we bring it to your door in one to two hours with a no-deposit option so your card stays free for the trip. The version most renters actually want here is the 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol, not the headline V8, and that's the choice this page is really about. The 3.0 gives you the presence, the cabin and the off-road hardware without the fuel bill of the supercharged car. Add the optional 5+2 seat layout and it covers a small family too. We'll tell you which engine and which seat count to book, and when to size away from it.

Picking the engine: the 3.0 is the sensible one

The 2021 Sport came in a few flavours, and the gap between them matters for a week's rental. The 3.0-litre six makes 355 hp, which is plenty to move this car with authority on Sheikh Zayed Road and to overtake without planning the manoeuvre. The 5.0 V8 and the SVR are faster and far thirstier, and the plug-in hybrid only makes sense if you've sorted charging. For most renters the 3.0 is the one to take. It feels expensive, cruises beautifully, and doesn't punish you at the pump the way the V8 does.

All versions run the eight-speed automatic and full all-wheel drive, so the gearbox and traction are the same whichever engine you land. The six just gets the balance right for Dubai.

Five seats or seven, and what fits

Most of these rent as five-seaters, and that's the layout to take if luggage matters more than headcount. Five adults travel in real comfort, and the 530-litre boot swallows several large cases plus soft bags for an airport run to DXB or DWC.

The optional 5+2 changes the maths. The two rearmost seats are best treated as occasional, fine for kids on a short hop across town, tight for adults on a long one. Raise that third row and boot space shrinks to hand-luggage territory, so it's a school-run-plus-extras layout, not a seven-up-with-suitcases one. If you genuinely need seven seats and a full boot together, a Discovery is the more honest call, and we'll switch you across.

Heat and a cabin that's been baking

This matters from May to September. Park a car this size in 45-degree sun and the cabin turns into an oven, so the question is how fast it recovers. The Sport's climate system has real output. The front vents move a lot of air, rear passengers get their own outlets, and cooled seats on most examples make the biggest difference of all when you slide onto leather that's been soaking up the sun in a mall car park. Give it a couple of minutes moving and the whole cabin settles, back row included, which counts on an afternoon pickup with a full load.

Fuel and the running cost you choose

Your fuel bill on this car is mostly decided the moment you pick the engine. The 3.0 six in mixed Dubai driving sits in a sensible range for a two-tonne SUV, and the roughly 86-litre tank gives you a long highway reach and several days of city errands between fills. Expect to refuel maybe once or twice across a normal week. Step up to the V8 and you'll be at the pump noticeably more often. Fuel here is cheap by world standards, so even the thirsty versions stay affordable, but if low running cost is the point, the six is the version that respects it.

Size, ramps and the air suspension payoff

At nearly two metres wide this is a big car, and you feel it in Marina basements and tight valet ramps. U-turns and narrow multi-storey bays want the cameras rather than guesswork. The reward is the air suspension. Steep mall ramps and the aggressive speed bumps that scrape a lowered car are a non-event here, since the standard 213 mm of clearance already clears them and you can raise the car to 278 mm at the touch of a button. The same hardware means a graded desert track or a Hatta drive is well within reach if your week heads that way, though for soft technical sand you still want experience and recovery gear. A few facts before you set off: Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, and an under-four needs a child seat we can fit on request. The car rents from 18, with 250 km included a day and extra kilometres at 2 AED each.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Range Rover Sport 2021 in 3.0 form if you want a genuine luxury SUV for the week, with the badge, the cabin and the all-weather, all-surface ability, without the fuel penalty of the V8. It's superb on the highway, easy to live with day to day, and capable enough for a desert weekend.

Take the 5+2 only if you occasionally need the extra two seats and can live with a small boot when they're up. If you regularly carry seven people with luggage, a Discovery or a long-wheelbase Range Rover suits you better. And if outright pace is the reason you're here, the V8 and SVR exist, just go in knowing what they cost to feed. For most Dubai weeks, the six-cylinder Sport is the smart booking.
