Kia Pegas 2025 - start from 143 AED / day

If the goal for the week is the lowest running cost on an automatic sedan, the Kia Pegas 2025 is about as cheap as it gets to keep fed in Dubai, and we deliver it to your door in one to two hours. This is a small petrol sedan built for commuting and errands, not a car that asks anything of you beyond turning the key. The 1.4-litre engine and four-speed automatic are deliberately simple, and that simplicity is what keeps the fuel bill low. We rent it from 18 as well, so a younger driver on a budget can book it without the usual age block. This page is honest about where the Pegas is the right call and where you should spend a little more.

How often you'll actually stop for fuel

This is the Pegas's headline. Real economy sits around 16 to 17 km per litre if you're easy on the throttle, with the city figure dropping toward the lower end once the AC runs flat out in summer. On a 43-litre tank that's roughly 700 km of mixed driving before you're back at the pump. For a normal commuting week that's a single fill, maybe two if you're covering longer distances. Petrol is cheap here, the engine is small, and the running cost is about as low as a sedan gets in this city. If keeping the fuel down is the whole brief, the Pegas does it without trying.

What the engine handles, and what it doesn't

With 95 hp pulling a sedan body through a four-speed auto, the Pegas does the ordinary jobs well and the demanding ones adequately. The automatic means no clutch in stop-start traffic on Al Wasl or Jumeirah Beach Road, and there's nothing clever to learn before you pull away. You sit a touch higher than a hatchback, visibility is good, and the controls are plain dials and buttons you'll have figured out in a minute.

Push it and the limits show. Overtaking on Sheikh Zayed Road takes planning, and you feel the engine working with a passenger or two aboard. For commuting and errands that's perfectly fine. If your week is long highway runs between emirates, you'll want more under the bonnet.

The boot and the airport question

The 475-litre boot is usefully square for the class. Two large suitcases plus a couple of cabin bags go in without a fight, which covers a family arriving at DXB or a quick hop out to DWC for the budget flights. Three big hard-shell cases and you're stacking and shuffling, so a fourth adult with their own luggage is where it gets tight. The rear seats fold if you need the length, but for an airport run, two cases plus the everyday shopping is the honest measure.

Heat, AC and the parked-cabin reality

Dubai summers push past 45 degrees, and a small petrol sedan handles that the way you'd expect. The AC is a single-zone front system, no rear vents and no climate luxury, but the cabin is compact, so once you've let the first blast of hot air out the windows it cools to comfortable in a few minutes. Park in shade where you can. On the move it holds a cool cabin for the front two and acceptable for rear passengers on a short trip. Don't expect it to revive a sun-baked dark interior instantly, because nothing in this bracket does.

Parking, Salik and the rules

Small footprint, light steering, tidy turning circle. The Pegas slips into the tight multi-storey bays at Marina and the malls without the three-point shuffle, and the 150 mm clearance clears speed bumps and ramps without scraping. Parking is the easy part of renting this car.

A couple of things to keep in mind. Salik tolls are billed to you, the renter, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you as well, so drive to the limits and watch the gantries. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat. None of this is Pegas-specific, but it catches first-time visitors out.

Who should rent it, and who should step up

Rent the Pegas if you want a cheap, no-surprises automatic for city commuting, errands and the occasional airport run, and you'd rather spend the saving on the trip than the car. It does that job honestly and cheaply.

Step up if your week looks different. Carrying four adults regularly, doing long highway stretches between emirates, or simply wanting a quieter, more planted cabin and stronger overtaking? A Honda City brings noticeably more poke and polish, and an Elantra moves you up to a roomier, better-isolated sedan. Both cost more to rent and both are worth it if refinement and highway pace are what you're after. The Pegas doesn't pretend to compete there. It's the dependable, low-cost option for people who just need a sedan that works.
