The maths is the reason to rent a Kia Pegas 2022 in Dubai. A small petrol engine, a low rate, and a boot that shames most hatchbacks add up to the lowest cost-per-week sedan we run, and our basic insurance and 24/7 roadside cover come in the price. We hand it over for the renter who treats a car as a tool, not a statement: the daily commute, the weekly shop, the odd airport run. This page is about one trade. You give up cabin polish and highway pace, and in return you get a real trunk and a fuel bill that barely registers. Whether that swap suits your week is the whole question.
Renting cheaply only helps if the car doesn't cost you elsewhere, and the Pegas is honest there. The 1.4-litre four sips fuel, petrol in the UAE is cheap, and 250 km a day comes included with nothing charged for extra kilometres, so a normal commuting week rarely pushes you past the allowance. The savings that matter aren't on the sticker. They're the tank you fill once instead of twice and the kilometres you don't get billed for. Spend the difference on the trip rather than the car.

For a car this cheap, 475 litres is a lot of boot. Two big hard cases sit in flat with cabin bags stacked on top, which is exactly what you want for a DXB pickup or a week's stay with full luggage. A hatchback at the same price usually takes one large case before you start folding seats. The boot mouth is a touch narrow, so a hard case slides in at a slight angle more easily than dead square, but the volume is genuinely there. If your week moves people and bags between the airport, the hotel, and the mall, the boot alone earns the booking.
The 43-litre tank paired with a real-world figure near 17 km/L gives you somewhere around 700 km of mixed driving, less in peak summer when the AC runs flat out in stop-and-go traffic. For most renters that's a single fill at the start of the week and maybe a top-up before handover. The engine is small and the running cost stays low, which is half the reason this car makes sense. Salik is the line that catches people, not petrol: you pay the tolls on every gate you cross, and the gantries along Sheikh Zayed Road add up faster than the fuel does.
The cabin is plain, hard plastics and simple controls, so the upside in June is that there's less of it to cool. Start the Pegas after it's baked at 45 degrees and the front vents pull the heat down quickly, faster than a big sedan would, and you're comfortable within a few minutes of moving. There are no rear vents, so back-seat passengers feel it a beat later, worth knowing if you'll regularly carry people behind you through summer. Park in shade where you can and let the first blast of hot air out the windows before you set off.
At 4.3 metres the Pegas is easy to place. Tight multi-storey bays at the malls, narrow Marina side streets, and U-turns are all simple, and the 150 mm clearance clears speed bumps and ramps without scraping as long as you take them at a sensible pace. Light steering and a small footprint make this the easy part of renting the car. A couple of housekeeping points renters forget: RTA fines during the rental pass to you, and seatbelts are mandatory in every seat with a child seat required for under-fours.
The Pegas is a city car that copes with the motorway, not the reverse. The 95 hp and four-speed auto get you to 120 on the E11 fine and it'll hold that cruise all day. Ask for a quick overtake, or load four adults and luggage and merge onto Sheikh Zayed Road, and you'll hear the engine working and feel it run out of easy pace above 100. That's the class, not a fault, but if your week is long fast inter-emirate hauls, it's the thing to weigh.
Rent the Pegas 2022 if low running cost and a big boot decide it for you, and your driving is mostly city loops and airport runs. For a single driver, a couple, or a small family doing everyday miles, it's the smart-money pick and the trunk is the standout.
Step up if you'll spend serious time on the highway or regularly carry four adults who want comfort. A Honda City gives you more power and a quieter cruise for not a lot more, and a Mitsubishi Attrage is the closest rival if you want to stay rock-bottom on price. Want the same shape with a newer dashboard, look at a 2023 or 2025 Pegas. For the lowest cost with luggage room this car holds, though, the 2022 still does the job.
