Want a sedan that looks like it costs twice the rate it actually books for? The Kia K5 2023 is the one we hand over most often when someone wants presence without the price tag, and yes, it rents in Dubai with a no-deposit option at checkout so your card stays untouched. This is a midsize saloon with a low, wide stance and a cabin that flatters you the moment you sit in it. Our argument for it is simple: it gives you more style and a bit more drive than the average family sedan while staying roomy and easy on fuel. It's front-wheel-drive comfort, not a sports car, and that's exactly why it suits a Dubai week.
Park the K5 next to the usual rental sedans and it wins on first impression. The long bonnet, the tiger-nose grille that stretches into the lights, the coupe-ish roofline: it reads as something from a class above. People assume it's an executive car, and that gap between how it looks and what it costs to rent is the whole reason we keep recommending it. Inside, the dashboard sits low and clean and the materials feel a notch better than the segment average. For a wedding or a client pickup it does the job a plain economy sedan can't.

The table is the reference. What matters is what those numbers do for your week, so let's get into that.
The 194 hp 2.5-litre is the engine that makes the K5 worth picking over a smaller sedan. It's genuinely quick off the line for this class, and the 8-speed automatic shifts smoothly enough that you rarely notice it working. On Sheikh Zayed Road the car settles into a 120 cruise without fuss and has real pull left for an overtake, which a lot of economy sedans simply don't.
I'll be honest about the limits. This is a comfort-tuned, front-drive saloon. Push it hard into a corner and you'll feel the nose wash wide before the rear ever gets involved. It's planted and confident at highway speed, but it rewards smooth driving over aggression. For almost everything you'll do here, airport runs, commutes, weekend trips, it has more than enough.
A dark cabin parked in July sun is brutal, and the K5 is no exception. Glacial White or one of the silvers will sit a few degrees cooler than Ebony Black if you have the choice. The AC itself is strong. From a fully heat-soaked cabin at 45 degrees, you're looking at a few minutes of windows-cracked driving before it pulls properly cold, which is normal for any car here.
The point in the K5's favour is the rear vents. Back-seat passengers get their own air, so if you're carrying family or clients the second row cools down without you having to crank the front to maximum. In a midsize cabin that detail earns its place.
The boot is large and squared off, the kind of trunk that swallows luggage without a fight. Two large suitcases plus a couple of cabin bags fit comfortably, which makes the DXB or DWC run easy even with four people aboard. This is where the K5 pulls clear of any compact sedan: real luggage room and a back seat three adults can sit across for a shorter trip.
Range backs that up. With the 60-litre tank and combined economy around 8.4 L/100km, a tank covers roughly 700 km of mixed city and highway driving, more if you're mostly cruising. For a typical Dubai week you'll fill up once, maybe twice if you're commuting daily across the city.
At 4905 mm long it's a proper midsize sedan, so tight basement bays and mall U-turns need more care than a small hatch. Visibility is decent and the reversing camera helps, but don't expect it to dart into a gap a Picanto would take. The 135 mm clearance is normal saloon height, so take speed bumps and steep ramps at a sensible angle and you're fine.
Two quick local points. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental are billed to you, not us, so keep an eye on the gates you cross. And seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, front and back, with no exceptions.
Rent the K5 if you want a sedan that looks sharp and rents cheap, with room for four adults and their luggage and an engine with actual punch. It's the value pick for anyone who cares how the car looks pulling up but doesn't want to pay executive-sedan money.
Size down to a compact sedan if it's just you or two of you doing short city errands and you'd rather pay less and park easier. Size up to an SUV if you need the height for loose desert tracks, want all-wheel grip, or are travelling five-plus with a full week of bags. For the stylish, frugal, roomy middle ground, the K5 2023 is the one I'd put you in.
