For the daily commute, the airport pickup, and the weekly grocery haul, a compact sedan with a real boot and modest fuel bills covers more ground than most people expect. We hand over the Kia Forte 2025 across Dubai with doorstep delivery in one to two hours, so the car reaches your building or your terminal without a trip to a rental counter. This page is about whether the Forte is the right value sedan for your week here, where its 2.0-litre engine and 5 seats earn their keep, and the point at which you should size up instead.
The Forte sits in the economy class but drives bigger than its rate suggests. It's a front-wheel-drive automatic with a 147 hp 2.0-litre engine, which is enough for the way most people use a car in Dubai: smooth pull-away at the lights, easy merging, and relaxed cruising once you're up to speed. Sold in some markets as the Cerato or K3, it's the same well-proven compact sedan underneath.
What it isn't is quick. The engine pairs with a CVT, so flooring it on a slip road brings more noise than shove, and the response softens above 120. For a commuter ferrying one or two people between home, office, and the mall, that rarely matters. If you regularly carry four adults with the AC on full and expect brisk overtakes on the open road, the heavier right foot will notice the limit.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Class / body | Economy sedan, 5 seats |
| Engine | 2.0-litre petrol, 147 hp |
| Drivetrain | Front-wheel drive |
| Transmission | Automatic (CVT) |
| Fuel economy | About 6.8 l/100 km combined |
| Fuel tank | 53 litres |
| Range | Roughly 700 km mixed driving |
| Dimensions (L x W x H) | 4641 x 1801 x 1435 mm |
| Ground clearance | 135 mm |
| Boot | 433 litres |
This is where the Forte makes its case. The 433-litre boot is generous for the class, with a wide, deep opening and a flat floor. Two large hard cases and a couple of cabin bags go in without a fight, which is the realistic load for a family flying into DXB or DWC. Fold the rear seats and you've got room for a flat-pack run or sports kit. For an airport job where the whole point is luggage plus passengers, this boot is the reason to book the Forte over a smaller hatch.
Cabin space backs it up. The wheelbase gives genuine rear legroom, so two adults in the back on a 40-minute run from the airport aren't folded up. Three across the back works for short hops, less so for a long one.
On fuel, the Forte is honest value rather than miserly. Expect somewhere around 6.8 litres per 100 km on a mixed week, a little thirstier in pure stop-start traffic and leaner on a steady highway cruise. The 53-litre tank means a realistic 700 km or so between fills, so a normal commuting week is one visit to the pump, maybe none if you're doing short trips.
Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental are billed to you, the renter, so keep to posted limits on the camera-heavy stretches of Sheikh Zayed Road. Seat belts are required in every seat. Those are the rules worth stating; the rest is just normal driving.
Cabin cooling is the question every renter asks in summer, and a parked Forte left in the sun reaches oven temperatures like anything else. The good news is that a compact cabin is quick to bring down. The front vents are strong, and you'll feel the air turn cold within a couple of minutes of starting; give it five with the windows briefly cracked and it's comfortable even on a 45-degree afternoon. There are rear vents for back-seat passengers, which not every car in this bracket offers.
Parking is straightforward. At just over 4.6 metres long it slots into standard mall and tower bays without the nose-out anxiety of a bigger sedan, and the light steering makes the tight U-turns and ramps around Marina and the malls easy work. The 135 mm ground clearance is normal sedan height, so take the steeper speed bumps slowly and you won't scrape.
On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 it cruises calmly at the limit and sits stable in traffic. The ride is on the firmer, busier side over patched tarmac and expansion joints, so it's competent rather than plush. If a cosseting highway ride matters most to you, that's worth knowing going in.
Rent the Forte if you want a roomy, well-equipped sedan with a big boot and sensible fuel bills for commuting and airport runs, and you're happy with calm performance over outright pace. It's one of the smarter value picks in its class for one or two people who still want proper luggage space. If you're often four-up with full cases and want stronger overtaking and a softer ride, step up to a K5. And if you genuinely only need a cheap runabout for short city errands and never carry much, a smaller basic sedan or hatch will rent for less and do that job fine. For the commuter who wants space without the bigger-car bill, the Forte is the one to book.
