There's a hotter GT with a turbo engine in this generation, though on a rental it earns nothing: it costs more to feed and the extra power stays parked in traffic. Stick with the automatic 2.0.

Luggage, passengers and the airport run

At 434 litres the boot is generous for the class, and because it's a deep boxed space behind a proper lid it packs better than a hatchback of the same footprint. Two large suitcases and a few soft bags drop in without a fight. The scenario that sells it is the airport pickup: collect three or four people with full cases from DXB or DWC and the Forte takes the lot, where cheaper cars would leave someone holding a bag on their lap. The back seat has enough room that adults aren't folded up either, which is rare at this rate.

Keeping cool through summer

From May onward a parked cabin bakes past 45 degrees, so cooling speed is a genuine rental concern. The Forte's air conditioning is solid economy-grade cooling. The front vents blow cold fast and the cabin is comfortable within a couple of minutes of moving with the windows up. There are no rear climate controls at this level, so back-seat passengers rely on airflow from the front. On the worst afternoons, give it a head start before everyone climbs in. At 4.64 metres it's a little longer than the small hatches it sits beside, so an older multi-storey bay around the Marina asks for a touch more care on the reverse.
