If you want a comfortable sedan for a week in Dubai without the running costs of anything bigger, the Kia Cerato 2024 is the easy call, and you can rent it from us at 18 when most desks make you wait until 21. We deliver it to your door, usually within 1 to 2 hours, so there's no airport queue or counter paperwork. The Cerato is a five-seat economy sedan with a 2.0-litre engine and an automatic gearbox, and the case for it is simple. It's roomier and more settled on the highway than a small hatch, sips fuel from a modest tank, and costs little to keep moving all week. This page is about whether that sedan comfort suits your trip, or whether you'd be better off in something smaller or larger.
This is where the Cerato makes the most sense. The 2.0-litre engine is efficient for its size, returning around 7.4 litres per 100 km on a mixed week, which is roughly 13 to 14 km per litre in normal Dubai driving. Paired with a 50-litre tank, that means you fill up once and forget about it for most of a week of city running and the odd highway trip. For a tourist doing daily sightseeing or a resident commuting across town, that's one less errand to plan around.
The 150 hp on tap is enough for how people actually drive here. It pulls away from the lights cleanly and gets to 100 km/h in about 9.8 seconds, so merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road or overtaking on the E11 is comfortable rather than nervous. It's no sports sedan, but it never feels short of breath at Dubai motorway speeds.

A sedan boot beats a small hatch here, and the Cerato's 505 litres is generous for the class. Two people with a large case each plus a couple of soft bags load up with room to spare, which makes the airport run from DXB or DWC genuinely easy. A family of four packing for a week will fit their cases too, though the separate boot means bulky or tall items that a hatch would swallow need more thought. For suitcases and bags, it's one of the better choices at this rate.
Inside, four adults travel comfortably. The second row has proper legroom for a sedan this size, so it's not the squeeze you'd get in a city hatch. Five up is fine for shorter trips around town. For a couple or a small family, the cabin never feels tight.
Dubai summers sit in the high 40s, and any car left in the sun gets punishing inside. The Cerato's cabin is compact enough that the AC pulls the temperature down quickly once you're moving, and the front vents hit hard. The first minute is warm while the system clears the heat, so dropping the windows for a few seconds before you drive off helps. There are rear vents to keep back-seat passengers comfortable, which matters on a school run or a longer trip with kids in the back. It's not climate luxury, but for an economy sedan it copes with the heat well.
The Cerato is an easy car to live with in the city. At around 4.6 metres it's longer than a hatch, so the very tightest multi-storey bays and a snug Marina basement need a little more care when you reverse in. Out on the road it's settled and quiet, with none of the buzzy feel a small car gets at 120 on the highway. The 140 mm of ground clearance is on the low side, which is normal for a sedan, so take Dubai's sharper speed bumps and steep mall ramps gently and you'll have no trouble.
Two running-cost notes that fall to you. Salik tolls are charged to the renter each time you pass a gate, and any RTA fines during the rental pass to you. Seatbelts are required in every seat, and a child under four needs a child seat, which we can fit on request.
Rent the Cerato 2024 if you want a comfortable, cheap-to-run sedan for a week of city driving and airport runs, especially if you're 18 to 20 and other desks won't rent to you yet. It's roomier and calmer on the highway than a small hatch, the boot handles real luggage, and the fuel bill stays low.
Drop to a hatch like a Picanto or a Spark if it's just you running short city errands and you want the cheapest possible rate and the easiest parking. Size up to an SUV if you need ground clearance for rough tracks or more cargo height than a boot allows. For most people who want a no-fuss four-door that's light on the wallet, the Cerato is the sensible middle.
