This is the newest G700 we have: the 2027 model year in grey, and the update is aimed squarely at the people in the back. The roof now carries a fold-down entertainment screen for the second row, the centre display gains a crisp 360-degree camera view that makes placing this big square body in a car park genuinely easy, and the cabin switches to a pale beige leather that makes the six-seat layout feel like a lounge. Same boxy flagship, one year more polish.

The 2027 updates that matter

Start with the camera, because you will use it within five minutes. The G700 is a tall, flat-sided box, and the 2027 car's 360-degree view stitches cleanly enough to kerb-park it first time, every time. The roof screen folds flat when you do not need it, and on a Fujairah run with kids in the captain chairs it is the difference between a quiet two hours and a loud one. Third row folded, the boot takes a family's airport luggage flat; third row up, you still clear the weekly shop.

The rest is as the G700 should be: 2+2+2 seating with a walkway down the middle, vents at every row, a full-size spare on the tailgate, and a panoramic roof over the lot.

On the road

The 2.0-litre turbo and automatic are tuned for calm rather than theatre, and the grey paint suits the car's actual character: unhurried, quiet at 120, soft over speed tables. The 4WD and the ground clearance mean the overflow sand lot and the unpaved track to the kite beach are simply not considerations. It is over five metres of car in feel if not quite in fact, so the 360 camera earns its keep in the Marina; on the open E611 it settles into the kind of flat, easy cruise that makes Abu Dhabi feel closer than it is.

The paperwork, the tolls, and the fine print

You can rent from 18 here, with at least 12 months on your licence. Bring your driving licence, passport and a credit card; payment on pickup is card or cash, and the deposit is AED 5,000. Fuel is same-to-same: it comes to you with a level, it goes back at that level. Salik tolls are billed to your booking as you pass the gantries, and any RTA fines during the rental are yours. A child seat is the law for under-fours, and we will fit one on request.

Mileage is 300 km a day, 1,500 km a week, 4,500 km a month, then AED 0.5 per extra kilometre. That daily allowance covers a Dubai commute with room to spare; if you are planning a proper road trip loop through the northern emirates, the weekly allowance is the one to book against.

The longer you keep it, the less each day costs

The rate steps down automatically with the length of the booking: 3% off from 3 days, 5% off at a week, 8% past two weeks, 12% past three, and 15% once you cross a month, with further steps beyond that. Nobody needs to ask for a code; the calendar does the discounting.

Who should book it

Book the 2027 if the back seats will be occupied by people whose opinion of the trip matters: the roof screen, the pale lounge-like cabin and the easier parking make it the family pick of the G700 range. If nobody rides in the back and the rate difference matters to you, the 2026 car does the same job for slightly less. Either way it arrives at your door in one to two hours, anywhere in Dubai.
