If your week in Dubai is built around the drive itself, the desert run, the Hatta pools, the roof off at sunset, then the Jeep Wrangler 2024 is the rental that makes sense. We bring it to your door across the city in one to two hours, and you settle up however you like on the day, card, cash, Apple Pay or bank transfer. The decision this page helps you make is honest and narrow: the Wrangler is brilliant for the adventure and middling for the commute, so book it for what it does and skip it if your week is mostly Sheikh Zayed Road and the mall car park.
The 2024 Wrangler runs the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, 285 horsepower through an automatic gearbox, with proper four-wheel drive underneath. It'll hit 100 km/h in about 7.2 seconds, which is plenty for a tall, square 4x4. The four-door is a five-seater and the version most renters take, because it gives you usable rear doors and a far bigger boot than the stubby two-door.
What you're paying for isn't refinement. It's the body-on-frame toughness, the ground clearance, and the fact that the roof and doors come off when you want the open-air thing. Nothing else on a normal rental fleet does that.
This is where the money goes. Clearance runs from roughly 246mm up to 274mm on the more capable trims, so deep ruts, rock steps and soft sand that would beach a crossover are no drama. The four-wheel-drive system is the real article, with low range for crawling, not a soft on-demand setup pretending to be one.
On a Hatta trail or a dune session out past Al Qudra, the Wrangler does exactly what it was built for. One caveat from the desk: the car gives you the hardware, not the skill. If you've never driven sand, stay on graded tracks and don't head out solo. The capability is genuine, but it won't read the dunes for you.

Out on the E11, the Wrangler is competent rather than relaxed. It cruises fine, but the tall body catches crosswind, the steering goes light at speed, and you'll hear wind around the roof and door seals as the needle climbs. At 120 with a soft top you raise your voice for a phone call. That's just what a removable-roof off-roader feels like at highway pace.
Parking is the daily reality. At 4785mm the four-door is long and square, so Marina ramps and tight multi-storey bays want a little patience. The payoff is the high seat and big glass, so you can see the corners you're threading.
Dubai summers push past 45C and a parked Wrangler turns into an oven. The AC is strong once it's pulling, but the cabin is large and a soft top lets heat soak in, so give the fans a few minutes on high before you expect comfort. Renting in July or August, ask for the hard top. It seals and insulates better than canvas and keeps the cabin noticeably cooler. Save the doors-off, roof-off drive for the cooler months when it's genuinely a pleasure.
It drinks, and there's no point pretending otherwise. A V6 hauling a brick through city traffic returns around 8.5 km/L combined, and hard sand driving drops that further. The 81-litre tank stretches to roughly 800 km on a gentle run, but on real Dubai mixed driving plan to fill up more often than you would in a sedan. Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental are yours, and seat belts are required in every seat.
Luggage is one area the four-door quietly wins. With around 900 litres behind the rear seats it takes a couple of large cases plus soft bags for an airport pickup, and folding the seats opens up far more for kit and coolers on a desert weekend.
Rent the 2024 Wrangler if the trip is the point. For Hatta, a dune day, or just the look and feel of an open Jeep with the newest cabin, nothing on the fleet comes close, and the four-door is the one to take for the space and the rear doors. Skip it if your week is school runs and motorway commuting in both directions. You'll pay for fuel you don't need and live with noise and ride a crossover would spare you. Match the car to the week and the Wrangler is one of the most rewarding keys we hand over.
