Pay how you like and the Hyundai Sonata 2021 is one of the easiest full-size saloons to rent in Dubai, with debit cards, cash, bank transfer and even crypto accepted and no card lock to tie up your money. We deliver it to your door, and you can take it from age 18 where most desks hold out for 21. The pitch is straightforward: this is a roomy, frugal midsize sedan that covers a Dubai week cheaply, with a long cabin, a deep boot, and a 2.0-litre engine that sips rather than shouts. If you want space and comfort for the money, it earns its keep. If you want pace or anything off the tarmac, we'll point you elsewhere below.
The Sonata's whole appeal is that a big car doesn't have to drink like one. The 2.0-litre four runs to a real-world 8 to 9 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai use, AC working hard, and the 60-litre tank turns that into a genuine 650 to 750 km between fills. For most renters that's one stop across a full week, maybe two if you're racking up highway miles. With 250 km a day included and a low extra-km rate beyond that, the Sonata pencils out as one of the cheaper ways to keep a full-size saloon on the road here.
The boot holds somewhere around 480 to 510 litres, which is a lot for the class. Two large hard cases plus a couple of cabin bags go in without a fight, and there's room left for the soft stuff that always appears on the way home. A DXB or DWC run with a full car is no drama, where a smaller sedan would have someone nursing a bag on their lap. The opening is wide and the floor is flat, so awkward shapes load easily. If your week leans on the airport or a family with gear, the boot alone makes the argument.

Three adults across the back is a real proposition here, not a polite fiction. Rear legroom is among the best in the class, so a small family or a few colleagues riding together stay comfortable on a longer trip. What the Sonata isn't is quick, and it doesn't pretend to be. The 150 hp engine moves it along fine for keeping pace and merging onto the E11, but a hard overtake at speed has it working and reaching for a downshift. If outright pace is the point, a turbo saloon suits you better. For the relaxed cruising most renters do, this is the right trade.
Left in an open lot at midday a Sonata gets brutally hot, the same as anything here. Recovery is what counts, and the AC is up to it. The front vents pull hard, and the long cabin cools to comfortable within a few minutes of driving rather than leaving you sweating to the first junction. Rear passengers get their own vents at the back of the centre console, which matters when there are kids in the back on a 45-degree afternoon.
At 4.9 metres the Sonata is a proper midsize car, so tight multi-storey bays and a Marina ramp ask for a little care. Light steering and a clear reversing camera make it easier than the length suggests, and you settle into judging it within a day. Clearance is low at about 135 mm, normal for a saloon, so take aggressive speed bumps slowly and skip the kerbs and sandy tracks. One housekeeping note: Salik tolls and any RTA fines during the rental fall to the renter, and seatbelts are mandatory in every seat.
Rent the Sonata 2021 if you want space and comfort for the money, and you'd rather not lock up a deposit or be told you're too young at 20. A business traveller after a quiet saloon for meetings and airport runs, or a family needing a real boot and a roomy back seat, gets the most out of it. Skip it if you're a solo driver doing short city hops, where a smaller car is cheaper to run and far easier to park. And if Hatta passes or rough ground are on your list, the low clearance rules it out, so size up to a midsize SUV. For frugal, comfortable miles with luggage aboard, the Sonata is hard to beat at the money.
