Renting the Hyundai Elantra 2024 in Dubai is one of the easier calls in the compact-sedan bracket, and we can hand one over with the no-deposit option so your card stays clean from the start. This is the sharp-looking, fuel-light four-door that punches above its rate: an angular body, a cabin that fits adults front and back, a boot that swallows real luggage, and economy that keeps you out of the petrol station. It suits a solo driver, a couple, or steady airport runs. The base engine is modest and the plastics lean budget, so this page is about whether that trade is right for you, or whether you'd be better in a hatch or a size up.
The 2024 Elantra is the CN7 generation, the one with the deep creases down the flanks and the full-width tail light. Under the bonnet sits a 2.0-litre four-cylinder making 150 horsepower, paired to an automatic gearbox driving the front wheels. That's the sensible everyday Elantra, not the hot N version, and it behaves accordingly: smooth and quiet at city speeds, content to cruise, never quick. Off the line it's unhurried, and a full load with the AC working hard takes the edge off further. For Dubai driving, where most of your time is spent between traffic lights and at a 100 to 120 cruise, none of that matters much.

The boot is the Elantra's quiet strength. At around 402 litres it's larger than most of its hatchback rivals and a good chunk of the compact-sedan field. Two large hard cases lie flat with room left for a couple of soft bags on top, which makes the DXB or DWC airport run genuinely comfortable for two people travelling with a week's luggage. Three large cases plus carry-ons is where it tightens, and the sedan boot opening, while wide, won't take a tall box the way a hatch tailgate would. The rear seats fold if you need the length, but the standard split handles the usual mall haul without complaint.
Inside, four adults sit fine. Rear knee room is better than the class average, and the flat-ish floor means the middle seat is usable for a short hop. The cabin materials are the giveaway on price: hard plastics on the lower doors and dash, a few scratchy panels. It looks smart at a glance and feels ordinary up close, which is fair for what this car is.
This is where the Elantra earns its keep. Combined consumption sits around 6.5 litres per 100km, and on a tank of roughly 47 litres that's near 700 km between fills in mixed driving. Lean into highway cruising and you'll do better; sit in summer crawl with the AC maxed and it climbs, as every car here does. For a typical Dubai week of errands, a couple of airport trips, and the odd longer drive, most renters fill once. That's the practical difference between this and a thirstier midsize or an SUV, and it's the main reason the Elantra punches above its rate.
Park anything outside in a Dubai July and the cabin hits oven temperature. The Elantra's AC is a strong point: front vents pull a parked cabin down to comfortable inside a few minutes, and there are rear vents to keep back-seat passengers happy on longer runs, which not every car in this bracket offers. Crack the windows for the first thirty seconds to dump the worst of the heat and it copes well even at 45 degrees.
A few standing Dubai facts. Salik tolls run on your account while the car's with you, and any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, so mind the speed cameras on Sheikh Zayed Road. Child seats are required for under-fours, and we can fit one on request. The no-deposit option is there if you'd rather not tie up funds.
At about 4.68 metres long the Elantra is compact enough for normal Dubai life. It slots into mall and tower bays without drama, takes Marina ramps and the tighter multi-storey corners cleanly, and the light steering makes U-turns easy. Ground clearance is around 135 mm, which is fine for speed bumps taken at sensible speed but no more than that. This is a road car. Steep loading ramps and aggressively humped community speed bumps want a careful approach, and anything off the tarmac is off the table.
On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 the Elantra settles into a relaxed cruise and stays composed at highway speed. Overtaking takes planning rather than a stab of the throttle, given the modest engine, but there's enough in reserve for safe lane changes. It's a calm, quiet companion at a steady 120, which is most of what an airport-and-errands rental needs.
Rent the Elantra 2024 if you're a solo driver, a couple, or a small family who wants a good-looking sedan with a big boot and low running costs for a week of city driving and airport runs. It's the value pick of the compact-sedan class, and the no-deposit option makes it an easy yes.
Skip it if you only ever park in the tightest old-building bays and never carry luggage, where a small hatch is simpler to thread. And size up to a midsize sedan or an SUV if you're regularly four adults with full airport cases, want stronger overtaking punch on the highway, or expect any rough ground. For everyone else, this is the smart everyday choice.
