Distance included
250 km per day
Extra Charge
0 AED per additional km
Rack up the kilometres on a Dubai week and the Hyundai Accent 2020 keeps the cost flat, because we include 250 km a day and charge nothing for the kilometres beyond it. Hand back the keys after a high-mileage seven days and there's no per-km sting waiting on the bill. That's the case for this older-year automatic sedan: it's the cheap, frugal car you book when you'll actually drive a lot, and the boot and back seat hold up when you're carrying people and bags. This page is about whether the Accent is the right car for a week that's heavy on distance rather than heavy on luxury.
Most rentals quietly punish you for driving far. The Accent doesn't. You get 250 km included every day, and anything over that costs you nothing extra, so a week of cross-city commuting or daily airport runs won't creep up on you.
Fuel is the other half of that math. The 1.6-litre four-cylinder is unhurried and economical, returning close to 16 km per litre in mixed driving. On the 45-litre tank, that's a real-world range comfortably past 600 km. For a normal Dubai week you're looking at one fill-up, maybe a top-off before return if you've been busy. Cheap petrol and a frugal engine mean the Accent costs little to keep moving even when you're moving it a lot.
At 4.5 metres the Accent is an easy thing to place. Tight multi-storey bays, the steep Marina ramps, mall car parks and U-turns are all one-and-done rather than a three-point struggle, and the light steering makes low-speed work effortless. The 172 mm of ground clearance clears Dubai's aggressive speed bumps and the lips at mall entrances without you flinching, which some lower sedans can't promise. For a car you'll park dozens of times across a busy week, that ease matters more than any figure on the spec sheet.

The trunk holds about 388 litres, and it's a square, usable shape rather than a shallow slot. In practical terms that's two large suitcases plus a couple of cabin bags, or three medium cases if you pack soft bags around them. For a couple or a small family flying into DXB or DWC with a week's luggage, that's the difference between everything going in the boot and a case riding on someone's lap. Push past four people with full-size cases and it tightens up, and that's the point where I'd send you to a larger sedan instead. For the standard airport run, though, the Accent loads more honestly than most cars at this rate.
Inside, two adults sit comfortably in the back behind two more, and the middle seat works for a short hop rather than a long crawl.
Leave any car in an August Dubai car park and the cabin turns into an oven by midday. The Accent's air conditioning is honest, single-zone climate, and the compact cabin works in your favour: there's simply less air to chill, so the front vents pull the worst of a 45-degree soak off within a few minutes of driving. There are no rear vents at this level, so back-seat passengers rely on the front blowers reaching them, which they do well enough in a cabin this size. Don't expect ventilated seats or twin-zone luxury. Crack the windows for the first thirty seconds and it clears faster.
With 130 hp through a smooth automatic, the Accent is composed at Dubai speeds. It pulls cleanly off the line, holds 100 to 120 on Sheikh Zayed Road without fuss, and merges onto the E11 without you planning the move three cars ahead. Ask for a hard overtake with a full load and you'll feel it's a modest 1.6, not a quick car, but on the daily commute and the airport run it never feels strained.
A couple of operating notes worth knowing. Salik tolls run on your account through the gate tags, and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, so watch the speed-camera zones. Seat belts are mandatory in every seat, and a child seat is required for under-fours.
Rent the Accent 2020 if your week is distance-heavy and budget-led: the daily commute, repeated airport runs, errands, a small family and real luggage that has to fit. The included mileage with no extra-km charge is the clincher when you know you'll drive a lot, and the older-year rate keeps the whole thing cheap.
Step up to an Elantra if you want a plusher cabin, more highway muscle, and a quieter long-motorway drive, or if you regularly carry four adults at speed. Drop to a budget hatch only if you barely drive and never pack suitcases, because once the kilometres add up the Accent's economy and boot earn back the difference. For the high-mileage middle of the market, this is the one we'd hand you.
