Honda Civic 2024 - start from 160 AED / day

Rent the Honda Civic 2024 in Dubai and the difference from a Corolla or an Elantra shows up in the first roundabout, not on a spec sheet. All three are automatic compact sedans competing for the same rental budget, but the Civic is set up for a driver who notices steering weight and body control, not just someone who wants a comfortable box between the villa and Sheikh Zayed Road. We deliver it to your door, home, hotel or office, usually inside one to two hours of booking, and the rest of this page is about whether that sharper feel is worth choosing over the safer, roomier default. Short answer: it depends on what you're carrying, and who's in the back seat.

The engine, and how it drives

The Civic runs a 1.5-litre turbocharged four making 180 hp and 240 Nm, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. That torque figure is the real story. It lands from 1,700 rpm, well below where a naturally aspirated Corolla or Elantra starts to pull hard, so the Civic feels quicker off the line at a Marina signal and more confident merging onto the highway without flooring it. Honda's CVT is also better behaved than most, holding a simulated gear under load instead of just droning at a fixed pitch, which is the difference between a CVT you notice and one you don't.

The steering is the other half of the argument. It's quicker off-centre and weights up more honestly than the numb, easy-effort setups on most rivals in this class, so a run through Business Bay's tighter turns or a Marina roundabout feels like the car is doing what your hands ask, not just following along. The trade is a firmer ride. Sharp expansion joints and patched sections of older roads come through more than they would in an Elantra, which rides softer on purpose. If you want a cushion between you and the road, that's a mark against the Civic. If you want to feel connected to it, that's the whole point.

Boot, back seat and the daily use

The boot holds 413 litres, which is a genuinely useful number for a car this size, close to what an Elantra offers despite the Civic being the shorter car overall. Two large cases and a soft bag go in without wrestling the parcel shelf, so an airport pickup for two with a week's luggage isn't a problem. Where it tightens up is a third case or a stroller on top, and you're better off packing carefully than assuming everything fits.

The back seat suits two adults for a cross-town trip or a drive out to the coast. Headroom is fine, since this is a proper sedan roofline rather than a coupe-styled one that clips it, but legroom is a notch behind the Elantra's longer wheelbase, so a tall passenger behind a tall driver will feel it on anything past half an hour. Three across the bench works for the school run, not for a full day. If your week is two people, or two adults and kids doing mall runs and errands, the Civic has the room. If it's regularly four adults with bags, the back seat is the thing that'll disappoint, not the boot.

Running cost, heat and the cabin

At 47 litres and roughly 13 km/l around town, the Civic gets you close to 650 km on a tank in mixed driving, so a normal commuting week means one stop at the pump, maybe two if you're doing longer highway stretches. The daily allowance on this rental is 250 km, and anything past that runs AED 0.5 a kilometre, which is generous enough that only a proper day trip out to Al Ain or Hatta and back would push you over, and cheaply if it does. Salik tolls and any RTA fines are the renter's cost on top, as with any car here. One thing to flag early: the minimum age on this rental is 25, a few years higher than the usual economy-sedan floor, so if you're in your early twenties, check that before you build a trip around this car.

The cabin is compact, which works in its favour in a Dubai summer. There's less air to chill than in a mid-size sedan, so the front vents pull a baking interior down to comfortable within the first minute or two of driving, and rear passengers get their own vents rather than being an afterthought. It's not a luxury climate system, just an efficient one for the cabin's size, and for a small car in the high 40s that's exactly what matters. Parking is easy too. At just under 4.7 metres the Civic fits standard multi-storey bays and handles a Marina ramp U-turn without drama, and the roughly 127 mm of clearance takes ordinary speed bumps in stride. Steep, sharp mall ramps are the one place to slow down and take the angle carefully, same as with any low sedan.

Who should rent it, and who should look elsewhere

Rent the Civic if you're the kind of driver who cares how a car turns in and pulls out of a corner, and your week is one or two people rather than a full car. It's the sharper, more involving alternative to a Corolla or an Elantra at similar rental money, quick enough off the line in city traffic and genuinely satisfying on a longer drive where the roads open up a bit.

Look elsewhere if you need to carry three adults regularly, or if ride comfort matters more to you than steering feel. An Elantra will coddle a full back seat better and ride softer over rough tarmac, and it won't ask you to be 25 to book it. The Civic isn't the practical default in this class. It's the pick for someone who'd rather enjoy the drive than just get through it.
