Long Sheikh Zayed Road stretches and quiet airport runs are where this sedan earns its keep, and that's exactly the case for the Honda Accord 2023. We rent it across Dubai with 250 km a day included, which is generous for a car people book to cover distance: a Hatta day, two airport drops and a few cross-town meetings rarely come close to the limit. The Accord is a roomy, refined midsize sedan, and this page is about one decision. If you want a comfortable highway and airport car for a couple or a family, it's hard to beat. If you mostly do short city errands, or you need height and a flexible boot, there are better calls.
The Accord settles at speed in a way smaller cars don't. On the E11 it sits flat, the cabin stays quiet past 120, and overtaking a slow lorry takes one confident press rather than a run-up. The 1.5-litre turbo has real mid-range pull, so loading four adults and luggage doesn't dull it. For DXB and DWC runs this is the comfortable choice: low boot lip, wide-opening doors, and a back seat where two adults stretch out on the drive in from the airport.
It's a long, low car, and that's the trade. Width helps stability on the highway but works against you in a tight Marina multi-storey or a packed mall basement. Tucking 4.9 metres into a short bay takes a beat longer than a hatch would. The turning circle is fine for U-turns on the main roads, less so for a three-point reverse in a cramped car park. Most renters never notice. If your week is all narrow side streets and valet-free basements, you will.

The boot holds 473 litres, and that's a genuinely useful number rather than a brochure one. Two large hard-shell cases go in flat with room for a couple of cabin bags beside them, which covers a family flying in for a week. Push to three large cases plus a buggy and you're stacking, but the wide opening and flat floor make it work better than the figure suggests. The rear seats fold if you're moving something long, though on a sedan that's an occasional trick, not the daily mode. For most couples and small families landing at DXB, the luggage question simply isn't a problem here.
Honda rates the 1.5 turbo at 7.4 L/100km combined. In real Dubai use, with the AC working hard and a fair amount of stop-start, expect closer to 8.5 to 9 on a mixed week. On the 56-litre tank that's still a comfortable 600 km or so between fills, so a normal week of city driving and a couple of longer runs needs one refuel, maybe two if you're commuting far. It takes regular petrol, which keeps the running cost sensible for a car this size. Remember Salik tolls are billed to you as the renter, and so is any RTA fine, so the gantries on Sheikh Zayed Road add up quietly over a week.
A black sedan parked in July gets brutally hot, and the honest part of the answer is that no car beats physics on minute one. What the Accord does well is recover fast: the AC pulls a baking cabin down to bearable within a few minutes and to genuinely cold not long after, helped by a large blower and rear vents that keep back-seat passengers comfortable on a longer drive. That last point matters more than it sounds for airport runs with kids in the back. Park in shade where you can, crack the windows for ten seconds before you set off, and the climate side of a Dubai summer is a non-issue in this car. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat, and a child seat is required for under-fours.
Rent the Accord if you're a couple or a family who'll spend real time on the highway and at the airport, and you want a quiet, planted, comfortable car for the week. It's the natural pick over a smaller sedan when the drive matters more than the parking.
The obvious rival is the Toyota Camry, and the two are close. The Camry feels a touch more relaxed and isolating, the Accord a little sharper and quicker to respond, so try the Accord if you actually enjoy driving and the Camry if you just want to glide.
Two honest steers away from it. If your week is short city errands and tight parking, drop to a Honda City and save on fuel and on the daily fight for a bay. And if you need a high seating position, easy step-in for older passengers, or a tall boot that swallows odd-shaped loads, step into a midsize SUV instead. For everyone else covering Dubai's long roads in comfort, the Accord is exactly the right amount of car.
