Need a vehicle that swallows a large family and a week of airport luggage in one trip? We hand over the GMC Yukon 2023 across Dubai, delivered to your door in one to two hours, ready to load. This is a full-size, three-row V8 SUV with a genuinely upmarket cabin, the car you rent when a mid-size crossover has run out of seats and boot. It cruises Sheikh Zayed Road without effort and carries eight people in comfort. The trade-off is honest: it's big to park and the V8 drinks. This page is about whether that trade-off suits your week.
The Yukon earns its keep when the group is large and the luggage is real: a family of six or seven heading from the airport to a villa, or two families pooling one car for the week. Eight seats sit across three rows, and unlike most "seven-seaters," the second and third rows here take adults, not just children on short hops.
If you're two adults doing mall runs and the occasional beach day, this is too much car. You'll spend more on fuel and effort parking than you need to, and a Nissan X-Trail or a Toyota Prado does that job for less. The Yukon makes sense when you genuinely need the space, and on those weeks nothing in the mid-size class comes close.
Behind the third row you get around 722 litres, enough for the weekly shop plus a couple of soft bags with all eight seats up. That matters more than the headline cargo number, because most families travel with the third row in use. For a group airport run, expect to fit eight people plus carry-ons and a few checked cases that way. If everyone has a large case, you'll want the third row folded and a smaller second car alongside. Fold that row and it opens to roughly 2,056 litres. Drop the second row too and you're at about 3,480 litres of near-flat floor, enough for a fridge or a full set of golf bags.
The cabin is where the 2023 Yukon feels worth the money: soft-touch surfaces, a large central screen, quiet road manners and seats that stay comfortable on a long Abu Dhabi run. It feels a class above the spec sheet.

No way around it: the 5.3L V8 is thirsty. Around town in Dubai traffic, with the AC working hard, expect near 15 to 16 litres per 100km, easing toward 12 to 13 on a steady highway cruise. On the roughly 91-litre tank that's about 550 to 650 km of real-world range, so on a heavy week of city driving you'll be at the pump every few days rather than once. Salik tolls are the renter's responsibility, and a vehicle this size will clip a few gates a day, so budget for that. Any RTA fines during your rental pass to you as well, and seatbelts are mandatory in every row, with a child seat required for under-fours.
A cabin this large takes a moment to cool after a stint parked in 45 degree sun, but the Yukon is well set up for it. Vents reach all three rows, so passengers in the back aren't baking while the front gets cold, and once it's running the system holds the whole cabin comfortable even at peak summer. Park in shade where you can and those first few minutes are far kinder.
On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 the Yukon is in its element. The V8 has easy power for overtaking, it sits planted at speed, and long airport transfers to DXB or the drive out to DWC pass quietly. This is a relaxed motorway car, not a quick one, and it doesn't pretend otherwise.
The size is what you plan around. At over 5.3 metres long and more than two metres wide, it fills a standard mall bay and demands care in tight multi-storey parks and on the narrower Marina ramps. U-turns need room, and the reversing camera and sensors do real work here. The 203 mm of clearance handles speed bumps and kerbs without drama.
One honest point: all-wheel drive and that clearance make the Yukon a capable soft-roader, not a dune machine. It takes compacted sand, gravel and graded tracks with ease. For serious deep-sand dune bashing, a 4x4 built for it, like a Land Cruiser or a Wrangler, is the right tool.
Rent the Yukon 2023 when the headcount and the luggage justify it: large families, group airport runs, or two families sharing one premium-feeling SUV for the week. You get three usable rows, a huge boot and an easy, upmarket highway cruiser, and that's strong value at this size.
If your group is four or fewer and your driving is mostly city, skip it and take a mid-size SUV. You'll park more easily and spend far less on fuel. And if your week is built around dune trips, choose a dedicated desert 4x4 instead. For the big-family, big-luggage job, though, the Yukon is the car we'd put you in.
