Moving a vehicle close to two and a half tonnes takes real power, and this engine carries it without working hard, so merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road or overtaking a truck near the airport is one confident push of the pedal rather than a downshift and a wait.

The bigger change for this generation sits underneath, where GMC swapped the old solid rear axle for an independent setup. It shows up as a settled, controlled ride over expansion joints and speed bumps rather than the floatier motion older Yukons had. It isn't trying to be a sports SUV, and the four-wheel drive here is built for a graded track, a wet road or a firm beach rather than low-range crawling through dunes. If Hatta's steeper trails or real sand are the actual plan, a Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser with proper low range does that job better.

Seven real seats, and the luggage math that follows

This is a genuine seven-seater, eight if you ask for a bench in place of the middle captain's chairs, and the third row is where that seat count stops being a spec-sheet number. Need every seat full with every case aboard at once, ask about the longer Yukon XL instead.

Book something smaller if it's one or two of you running errands around the city. You'd be parking a five-metre SUV and feeding a V8 for room and mileage you'll never use, and a mid-size crossover handles the same trips for a lot less fuel and an easier time finding a bay. Your allowance is 250 km a day, then AED 0.5 for every kilometre past that, and you'll need to be at least 25 to collect the keys.
