Gmc Yukon 2022 - start from 570 AED / day

If a full-size SUV with a genuine third row is what your trip needs, the GMC Yukon 2022 is the sensible way to get one in Dubai without the latest-model premium. We rent it with a no-deposit option, so a week of school runs, airport collections and Hatta weekends doesn't tie up a hold on your card. This page is about one decision: when the 2022 Yukon's V8 and full eight-seat body are the right call, and when a smaller, cheaper SUV would serve you better. The short version is that this car earns its keep when you're moving six or seven people and their luggage, and starts to look like overkill the moment you're not.

What you're actually renting

This is the short-wheelbase Yukon, not the longer XL, with a 5.3-litre V8 making 355 horsepower through a 10-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. It seats up to eight with the second-row bench, and the version most renters take is the seven-seat layout with captain's chairs that make the third row easier to reach. The V8 isn't quick in a sporting sense, but it has the low-end pull that a two-and-a-half-tonne SUV needs to merge onto Sheikh Zayed Road without drama, fully loaded, in summer.

Does my group and luggage fit

For six or seven adults, yes, comfortably, and that's the whole reason to rent it. The third row is a real row, not a token bench, so teenagers and adults can sit back there on a 30-minute airport run without complaint. The trade-off is the boot. With all three rows up, you get enough room for a few soft bags and a couple of backpacks, not a stack of hard suitcases. Folding the third row changes that completely and opens up a long, flat load floor that swallows luggage for a family of five.

So the honest split is this. Seven passengers plus a full set of airport cases at once is a stretch. Seven passengers travelling light, or five or six with all their luggage, is exactly what this car is for. If your group genuinely needs both maximum seats and maximum boot on the same trip, the longer Yukon XL is the one to ask about.

How often you'll refuel

A V8 this size is thirsty, and there's no point pretending otherwise. Expect somewhere around 14 litres per 100km in mixed Dubai driving, and worse if you sit in city crawl with the AC fighting a hot cabin. The upside is the 91-litre tank, which still gives you roughly 650 km between fills. In practice that means one or two stops a week for most renters, not a daily ritual. Budget for fuel as a real line in your trip cost. The softer rate on this 2022 over the newer model often offsets a good chunk of what the V8 drinks.

Heat and the big cabin

Cooling a cabin this large from a 45-degree parked soak is the test that separates a comfortable group from a miserable one. The tri-zone climate system pulls the front down quickly, and there are vents feeding the second and third rows, which matters when you've got kids strapped in at the back. Give it a few minutes with the doors shut to clear the worst of the heat, then it holds the whole cabin steady even with seven bodies inside. Park in shade where you can. A car this big bakes faster than a hatchback and takes longer to recover if every row is loaded.

Living with the size in Dubai

The Yukon is over five metres long and wide enough to make you think. Tight multi-storey bays in older Marina and Downtown buildings are the real challenge, and some sloped ramps want a careful line so you don't scrape the front. Mall parking is mostly fine, but you'll favour the end bays and the open levels. On the open road it's in its element. Sheikh Zayed Road cruising, overtaking with the V8 in reserve, and a DXB or DWC run with a full group and a trailer of bags are where this car stops feeling big and starts feeling right. The 203mm of clearance and all-wheel drive also make it genuinely capable on graded desert tracks toward Hatta, though it's a road car at heart, not a rock crawler.

A note on costs that catch renters out. Salik tolls are billed to you, and any RTA fine during the rental passes through to you as well, so keep to the limits on the E11. Seatbelts are required in every seat, including the third row, and children under four need a proper child seat, which we can fit on request.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Yukon 2022 if you're moving a real group, six or seven people, or a family that wants the third row free for guests and the option to fold it for luggage. It's the value pick in full-size SUVs here: the same V8, the same eight-seat body and the same highway composure as the newer car, at a softer rate, with the no-deposit option on top. Skip it if you're two or three people doing city errands, because you'll pay for fuel and fight the size for space you never use. In that case a mid-size SUV is the smarter rental. And if you need every seat filled and every case loaded on the same drive, size up to the Yukon XL rather than squeezing this one.
