Pick a colour on an SUV this size and you're really deciding how rough the first minute back inside it feels. This GMC Yukon 2021 comes in white, and through a Dubai August on an open rooftop or an unshaded bay, that's the sharper call, not just a safer-sounding one. A pale body sheds a good share of the sun's load before the air conditioning has done a thing, and on a cabin this large that head start counts. We deliver the GMC Yukon 2021 to your door within one to two hours of booking. What actually decides this rental isn't the colour, though. It's whether a seven or eight-seat, full-size SUV is the right amount of car for what you're doing in Dubai this week.

GM builds this generation of Yukon around a 5.3-litre V8, good for 355 hp and 519 Nm of torque, driving all four wheels through a ten-speed automatic. GMC's own literature calls that system four-wheel drive, not all-wheel drive, and it runs through an actual transfer case rather than a name picked for the window sticker. A vehicle close to two and a half tonnes needs power in hand, and the V8 has it without working for it. Merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road or clearing a slower truck near the airport is one steady push of the pedal, not a downshift and a pause.
This fifth generation, the one that arrived for model year 2021, is also the first Yukon built on an independent rear suspension instead of the old solid axle, and it's the change you notice fastest from the driver's seat. Expansion joints and speed bumps get absorbed rather than felt through the whole body. None of that turns it into a dune vehicle. Four-wheel drive here suits a graded track, a wet road or a firm stretch of beach, not low-range crawling through soft sand. If Hatta's steeper trails or a real dune run are the plan for the week, a Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser with proper low-range gearing does that job better.
This is the standard-length Yukon rather than the longer XL, seating seven across three rows with two captain's chairs in the middle, or eight with a bench there instead. The third row is what actually justifies the length. Most SUVs this size hand you a back bench a child tolerates for twenty minutes and an adult gives up on after two. The independent rear suspension frees up real foot room back there, so grown adults can sit through an airport transfer or a run up to Abu Dhabi without their knees against the seat in front.
Luggage is the figure worth working out before you book. Behind the third row you get 722 litres, enough to swallow a full set of hard cases straight off the arrivals belt without folding a seat. Drop that row and it grows to roughly 2,056 litres, and fold the middle row in too and you're close to 3,480. The one honest catch: seven people with seven full-size suitcases each will still end up wedging a soft bag somewhere. For most groups of six to eight with a normal amount of luggage, this standard-length car is the right size. If every seat and every case travel together every single day, the longer Yukon XL carries noticeably more room behind its own third row.
A V8 this size costs roughly what you'd expect to run. The official combined figure sits at 13.8 litres per 100 km, and a week of genuine Dubai city driving with the AC working hard usually lands closer to 16 or 17. The 91-litre tank still buys a fair stretch between fill-ups, but treat fuel as a real weekly cost, not a rounding error. Salik tolls and any RTA fines picked up while you have the keys land on your bill, the same as with any car we hand over.
This is where white paint stops being a preference and starts being a practical choice. Parked and closed up on an open rooftop through a Dubai afternoon, a light-coloured body reflects away a real share of the heat that a dark one soaks straight into the panels. You'll still find a warm cabin after a few hours in direct sun, no colour changes that, but the dash and seat tops won't have baked the way they would under black paint. Once you're moving, the system catches up fast on its own, with front vents pulling the temperature down within a couple of minutes and the third row getting its own vents rather than whatever drifts back from up front.
Size shows up at the parking bay before it shows up anywhere else. At 5,331 mm long and 2,057 mm wide, a tight multi-storey bay or a steep Marina ramp wants the reversing camera and a slower approach than a sedan needs. Around 203 mm of ground clearance means the usual speed bumps and mall ramps don't register.
This car makes sense for a group of six to eight moving together with a proper amount of luggage, the kind of trip where two smaller cars would otherwise be the fallback. The third row genuinely holds adults for the length of a highway run, rarer in this class than the spec sheets suggest. Parked in the open most days rather than a shaded garage, the white paint is a small but real point in this car's favour over the darker Yukons on our lot. If the GMC badge doesn't matter to you personally, a Chevrolet Tahoe rides on the same platform and V8 for less. If the week is really about dunes rather than a firm graded track, a Nissan Patrol with low-range gearing is the more honest tool, and if you need every seat and every case aboard at once, ask about the longer Yukon XL instead.
Book something smaller if it's one or two of you handling city errands. You'd be steering a five-metre SUV and feeding a V8 for room and range you won't touch, when a mid-size crossover covers the same ground for a lot less fuel and an easier search for a bay. Your allowance is 250 km a day, with anything past that billed at AED 0.5 a kilometre, and you'll need to be at least 25 to collect the keys. A deposit may apply on a vehicle this size, so don't plan around a no-deposit booking.
