Geely Emgrand 2025 - start from 118 AED / day

We rent the Geely Emgrand 2025 across Dubai, and it's one of the easiest cars on our fleet to recommend to anyone watching what a week of driving actually costs. Daily commutes, airport runs to DXB or DWC, the odd weekend out of the city: this is the cheapest genuinely comfortable sedan we hand over, and we'll deliver it to your door in one to two hours. We also rent it to drivers from age 18, where most of the market won't touch you until 21. The argument of this page is simple. If you want sedan room and a quiet highway cruise without paying sedan money, the Emgrand is the one to take. If you're carrying four adults plus full airport luggage every day, read the boot section before you book.

Why the Emgrand makes sense as a daily

This is an economy-class sedan that drives a size bigger than its rental rate suggests. Five real seats, a proper boot, and a cabin that doesn't feel like a penalty box on a long stint down Sheikh Zayed Road. The 1.5-litre engine puts out 103 horsepower through an automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive, which is exactly enough for Dubai. You'll merge onto the E11 without drama, hold 120 in the fast lane comfortably, and the gearbox won't hunt around at city speeds the way some budget autos do.

What it isn't is quick. Top speed sits at 175 km/h, and overtaking three lanes of traffic at highway speed takes a moment of planning rather than a stab of the throttle. For commuting and airport work, none of that matters. You're not racing anyone to Terminal 3.

Running cost and how often you'll refuel

This is where the Emgrand earns its keep. The 50-litre tank paired with a frugal 1.5-litre engine means a normal week of Dubai commuting, say 50 to 60 km a day across errands and the office run, gets you close to a full week on one fill. Geely quotes economy figures that look great on paper. In real Dubai conditions, with the AC fighting 45-degree heat and stop-start traffic on Al Khail, expect something nearer 7 litres per 100 km. That still lands you around 700 km of range per tank, so most renters fill up once a week, maybe twice if you're doing daily airport laps.

Salik tolls and any RTA fines pass to you as the renter, which is standard across every rental in Dubai, so plan your routes if you're crossing the toll gates twice a day. Seatbelts are mandatory in every seat.

Boot space: does your luggage fit

The boot is the Emgrand's quiet advantage over the hatchbacks people often rent to save a few dirhams. At 500 litres, it swallows two large suitcases and a couple of cabin bags without folding the rear seats, which is the whole point for an airport car. Three big cases plus carry-ons is the realistic ceiling. For a family of four flying in with a week's worth of luggage, that's a clean fit, and it's the main reason I'd steer an airport-heavy renter toward this over a Picanto or a Spark.

Heat, the cabin, and parking

Park it in the sun at midday in July and the cabin will be brutal for the first stretch, like every car in this city. The front vents pull a parked cabin down to bearable within a few minutes, which is what counts on the school-run-then-meeting kind of day. It's a single-zone setup, not luxury climate control, but for a car at this rate the cooling is honest and it does the job on the highway once you're moving.

Around town the Emgrand is easy to place. At just over 4.6 metres it's longer than a city hatch, so the tightest Marina multi-storey bays take a little more care, but the light steering and clear sightlines make U-turns and mall ramps simple. The 151 mm ground clearance clears Dubai's speed bumps and parking ramps without scraping, which sounds minor until you've heard a low car bottom out on a community speed table.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Emgrand if you want the cheapest comfortable sedan for commuting, airport runs, and the occasional weekend drive, especially if luggage space and a calm highway cruise matter more to you than outright pace. It's the value pick on our lot, and at 18-plus eligibility it's open to younger drivers who'd get turned away elsewhere.

Look elsewhere in two cases. If you'll regularly load four adults and full luggage and want effortless overtaking power, a larger sedan will feel less stretched. And if you only ever drive solo around the Marina and never touch the airport, a smaller hatch will park tighter and rent cheaper. For most people landing in Dubai who want one easy, economical car for the week, the Emgrand is the sensible call.
