Both send power through a 10-speed automatic to the rear wheels only. There has never been an all-wheel-drive Mustang, so ignore any listing elsewhere that suggests otherwise.

Either engine is happy on Sheikh Zayed Road, holding a fast cruise with enough left for a clean overtake. The gap between them shows up off the line and at the top of the rev range, not in ordinary traffic. What both share is the rear-wheel drive, which means the back end will step out if you are heavy on the throttle over a wet road or a painted lane marking, so give the car a gentle first day before you lean on it.

Look at a sedan or an SUV instead if your week means four adults or a real pile of luggage, since the back seats and the firm ride will wear thin fast.
