Most rental desks make you wait until 21 to put you behind something this big, but we rent the Chevrolet Tahoe 2026 from 18, delivered anywhere in Dubai. It's the newest full-size Tahoe we hand over, a three-row, seven-seat SUV on a 5.3 V8, and this page is about one judgement call: the latest-year premium only makes sense if you genuinely fill it. For a big family or a group running between the airport and the hotel, it does. For a couple doing errands, it's a lot of vehicle and fuel to carry air, and we'll tell you where the line sits.
Start with where the Tahoe is happiest, because it shapes everything else. On the E11 and Sheikh Zayed Road this is a calm, planted cruiser. The V8 has easy torque, so merging from a slip road or overtaking a slow lorry with seven people aboard never feels like a gamble, and at the limit the cabin stays quiet enough for a conversation in the third row. Long airport transfers to DXB or out to DWC are the journeys it makes feel short. If most of your week is highway miles with a full load, this is the car that does it without drama.

A petrol V8 moving more than two and a half tonnes is thirsty, and a newer model year doesn't change physics. Expect around 13.8 litres per 100km on a balanced mix, and noticeably more in stop-start city traffic with the AC working against 45-degree heat. The 91-litre tank gives a comfortable touring range of roughly 650km, so on a typical week you'll refuel once or maybe twice rather than every other day. Petrol is cheap here, which takes the sting out, but a week of short school runs and city errands will have you back at the pump more often than any compact SUV would. If running cost is the thing you're optimising for, the Tahoe is the wrong answer and you know it.
The Tahoe earns its rate when seven people and their bags travel together. Two up front, a middle row that seats three without an argument, and a third row that takes adults for a city hop rather than just kids folded in. The seats sit high and the glass is tall, so even the back row gets a proper view out.
Behind the third row you have around 722 litres, which is roughly four to five large cases stood upright or a wide spread of soft bags and a stroller. That's the number families care about: with all seven seats up, the Tahoe still loads an airport haul where most three-row crossovers force you to drop a seat first. Fold the rearmost row and the floor opens to a near-van load space, up around 3,480 litres with the second row down too. If your group is four or fewer travelling light, you're paying for room you won't use, and a mid-size SUV will be cheaper to fuel and easier to park.
A Tahoe left in a July car park gets brutally hot, but it recovers well because every row has its own vents. Rear passengers get their own outlets instead of waiting for cold air to drift back from the front, which on a 45-degree afternoon is the difference between a comfortable third row and a miserable one. The big glasshouse heats up fast, so park in shade where you can and give it a couple of minutes after start before everyone climbs in. Once it's down, it stays a genuinely cool place to sit for a long drive.
No way around it: at over 5.3 metres long and more than two metres wide, the Tahoe is a handful in older Marina towers and packed mall basements. Standard bays feel snug, the turning circle is wide, and you'll think twice on a tight spiral ramp. The reversing camera and sensors carry most of the load and the high seating helps you place the nose, but you drive it like the large vehicle it is. Speed bumps and ramp lips, on the other hand, are a non-event with 203mm of clearance underneath. A word on what it isn't: the all-wheel drive is for surer footing on a graded track or a wet ramp, not for dune bashing, so if the desert is the point of the trip, rent a proper 4x4 with low range instead.
Salik tolls and any RTA fines during your rental pass to you, so plan your gates and stick to the limits. Seat belts are mandatory in every row, and a child under four needs a proper seat, worth arranging before a full-family pickup. None of this is unusual here, but it's better known before you set off than after.
Rent the Tahoe 2026 if you're moving six or seven people and a pile of luggage, or running a group between the airport and the hotel in comfort, and you want the newest cabin in the full-size class. For families who genuinely use the space, one Tahoe does what two smaller cars would, and the latest-year polish is a real upgrade. Skip it if you're a couple or a family of four, or if fuel cost and easy parking matter more to you than outright room. In that case a mid-size SUV saves you money at the pump and stress in the basement. Book the Tahoe for the trips where everyone and everything has to fit.
