The first thing to know about the Chevrolet Tahoe 2021 is that it's over five metres long, and how you feel about that decides whether you should rent it. We deliver the Tahoe across Dubai within one to two hours, and you settle on arrival however suits you: card, cash, bank transfer, or a wallet like Apple Pay or Google Pay. This is the full-size, three-row, body-on-frame SUV at an older-year rate, and it's the cheapest way to move seven people and a week of luggage in a single vehicle. Our take: it's brilliant when the seats and boot are full, and a needless handful when they're not. Below is how to tell which week you're having.
Most renters underestimate this, so start here. The Tahoe is a big car in a city built around tight bays and spiral ramps. Multi-storey parking at Marina towers and older mall garages asks for patience, and you'll find yourself hunting end bays near the lift cores where there's room to swing the doors. Reversing into a standard slot is a cameras-and-mirrors job, not a glance over the shoulder. U-turns on narrow older streets need more road than the car wants to give.
None of that is a deal-breaker if you came for the space. It's only a problem if you're two people doing short city hops, in which case you're wrestling a five-metre SUV for no payoff. Be honest about your week before you book.

Seven seats here are full-size seats, not a token third row. Two adults sit in the back without their knees in their chins, which only matters once a trip runs past a quick hop. Even with all three rows up you keep a usable boot of around 720 litres, enough for the airport bags of a real group. Fold the rearmost seats and the load floor opens up into something cavernous.
For an airport collection this is the rare SUV that takes a full party and their cases at once. Picture four or five people with large suitcases, or seven travelling light with carry-ons and a couple of checked bags stowed up front. Push past that, seven adults each with a big case plus trolleys, and even the Tahoe runs out of room. Drop one section of the third row and you free a deep well for the overflow.
The 5.3 V8 drinks, and there's no point pretending otherwise. Reckon on roughly 7 to 8 kilometres per litre once you mix car parks, Salik corridors and the odd highway stretch, and worse if you sit in summer traffic with the AC fighting the heat. The saving grace is the tank, around 91 litres, which keeps the range long despite the thirst. On a normal week of errands and a couple of longer runs you'll fill every few days, not every other morning. Fuel is cheap here by global standards, so the blow is softer than the consumption number suggests. But if your trips are mostly short and solo, you're paying to haul empty seats, and that's the clearest argument for sizing down.
A big cabin takes longer to cool than a small one, and a Tahoe left in a Dubai July comes back genuinely hot. The payoff is that each of the three rows gets its own vents, so once the system catches up everyone is covered rather than just the front pair. Start the engine, set the fans high, and give it a few minutes before you load kids into the back. Park in shade or a basement when you can, because there's a lot of glass to bake.
Where the size stops being a chore is the open road. Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 are the Tahoe's natural home, the V8 cruising at the limit with a full family settled and overtaking never a project. Long transfers to DXB or out to DWC are quiet and easy. The all-wheel-drive badge tempts people toward the desert, but resist it. This is a comfort-tuned family hauler on road-set suspension, not a low-range off-roader, and soft sand will bog it down fast. A graded track to a campsite is fine; real dune driving wants a proper 4x4 with low range, the right tyres deflated, recovery kit and a second vehicle. As the renter you cover Salik tolls and any RTA fines, belts are required in every row, and an under-four needs a child seat, which the rear rows have ample room to fit.
Rent the Tahoe 2021 if you're moving a genuine group: a large family, a set of friends sharing one car, or anyone running an airport shuttle for several people with luggage. At an older-year rate it does all of that in one vehicle more cheaply than anything else, and the space and highway calm earn the fuel.
Skip it if you're two or three people on mostly city driving. You'll fight the footprint in every car park and pay a V8's bill to carry air. A mid-size SUV, or a sedan if your bags are light, will be easier to live with and cheaper to run. The Tahoe makes sense the moment the seats and the boot are full, and not much before that.
