Chevrolet Suburban 2021 - start from 588 AED / day

We hand over the Chevrolet Suburban 2021 to your door in Dubai within one to two hours, fuelled and ready, which matters when you've got a full house of guests landing and no time to queue at a rental counter. This is the biggest mainstream family hauler you can rent here: three full rows, a 5.3-litre V8, and a boot behind the third row that still swallows luggage when every seat is occupied. If your group and their bags won't fit in a normal seven-seater, this is the car that solves it. The trade is length, height and a real thirst, and we'll be honest about all three.

Three rows that actually carry eight

Most "seven-seaters" seat seven on paper and four in comfort once the third row is up. The Suburban is built differently. At roughly 5,740 mm long it gives the second and third rows genuine legroom, so adults can sit in the back without folding themselves in. Eight seatbelts means eight people, and the middle row slides and tips for easy access to the rear.

Where it pulls ahead of every rival in this price range is the boot behind the third row. You get around 1,175 litres back there with all seats up, which is enough for a stack of airport cases, a pram and the overflow that usually ends up on someone's lap. Fold the third row and it turns cavernous. For a group of six or seven plus a week of luggage, nothing else in the mainstream rental fleet comes close.

What it costs you in fuel

The V8 is the honest catch. Expect somewhere around 13 litres per 100 km on mixed Dubai driving, and worse if you're crawling through Marina or Downtown in the evening. The flip side is the 106-litre tank, so even drinking hard you'll clear 700 km or more between fills, and on a steady run up Sheikh Zayed Road it stretches further. For a week of airport runs and family outings, plan on filling up once or twice. If your trip is mostly short city errands and the group is small, a smaller SUV will cost you a lot less at the pump and you won't miss the third row.

Heat, AC and the Dubai roads

A cabin this size takes a moment to cool after it's been baking at 45 degrees, but the Suburban has the vent layout to manage it: strong front vents plus dedicated outlets feeding the second and third rows, so the people in the back aren't an afterthought. Crack the windows for the first minute, let the system clear the trapped heat, and the rear settles within a few kilometres. On the highway it's in its element. The V8 makes overtaking on the E11 effortless and it cruises to DXB or DWC quiet and unhurried with a full load.

Off the tarmac, set expectations. This is a rear-drive soft-roader with around 203 mm of clearance, fine for a graded track or a beach car park, not a dune machine. If Hatta wadis or serious sand are on your list, rent a proper 4x4 instead.

Parking a vehicle this long

There's no getting around it: at 5,740 mm long and nearly two metres tall, this is a lot of car to place. Tight multi-storey bays in older malls are a squeeze, and some have height barriers that a vehicle this tall won't clear, so check before you commit to a level. Marina ramps and tight U-turns need patience and the parking camera. Speed bumps are no drama with the clearance it has. Around town it's the length, not the ground, that you manage. If most of your driving is solo runs through packed city parking, this is more car than you need and a mid-size SUV will save you the stress.

A few Dubai rules to keep in mind: Salik tolls run on your account and any RTA fines during the rental pass to you, seatbelts are required in every one of those eight seats, and children under four need a proper child seat.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Suburban if you're moving a real group: a large family, a multi-generation holiday, or a crew arriving together at the airport with all their cases. Nothing mainstream carries eight people and their luggage as comfortably, and the highway manners make long days easy. The value is in the space, not the fuel bill.

Skip it if you're two or three people doing city errands, if your usual parking is tight multi-storey, or if you genuinely need to go off-road. In those cases a smaller SUV is cheaper to run, far easier to place, and you lose nothing you'd actually use. Book the Suburban for the size; don't book it by accident.
