The V8, and how it drives

Being the newest Corvette in the fleet doesn't change what sits behind your shoulders: a 6.2-litre LT2 V8, naturally aspirated, making 482 hp and paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic sending power to the rear wheels. Chevrolet hasn't touched the Stingray's mechanicals for 2025. The higher-output Z06 and the all-wheel-drive E-Ray hybrid are separate cars built on the same platform, and this rental is the Stingray. 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.5 seconds and it tops out at 296 km/h, figures that haven't moved since the C8 launched.

What the mid-engine layout gives you, generation after generation, is a nose that turns in fast and a car that sits low and planted through a bend, closer to something European than anything else at this price. On Sheikh Zayed Road late at night it pulls cleanly from any speed, and the dual-clutch box swaps gears before you've finished asking for them. Leave it in Tour for the daily commute and it settles down. Switch to Sport or Track on an open stretch and the V8 gets properly loud.

The car's one daily inconvenience is how low its nose sits. Steep ramps into Marina towers, sharper mall entrances and aggressive speed bumps all catch a Corvette that's driven in flat and fast. Some cars in the fleet carry a front-axle lift that raises the nose by roughly 40 mm at low speed to clear exactly this, so it's worth asking whether the car you've booked has it fitted. Either way, take ramps slowly and at an angle rather than trusting the ground clearance.

Two seats, one small boot, and what that means

Start with the number that can't be negotiated: this is a two-seater. If there's a third person in your group for the week, they need their own car, not a squeeze in the back, because there is no back.

Luggage works the same way it always has on this generation. The front compartment under the nose holds about 85 litres, room for one carry-on case and not much else. The rear compartment, behind the engine, is bigger at roughly 243 litres and takes soft bags or golf clubs comfortably. The trade-off to plan around is the roof. The one-piece panel lifts out in under a minute for open-top driving, and it has to go somewhere: that somewhere is the rear compartment. Stowed there, it fills most of that space, so the moment you drive open you're effectively down to the front trunk alone, one small boot for two people. Decide which matters more for your trip, the open roof or the packing room, because on most days you don't get both.

Running cost, heat and the cabin (top up or down)

The small cabin is genuinely useful in Dubai's heat. There's far less volume to cool than in a sedan or SUV, so once you're moving after a spell parked at 45 degrees, the front vents bring the temperature down fast, and both seats get the full benefit since there's nothing behind them sharing the air. The habit worth keeping is roof up while it's parked in the sun during the day, even in cooler months, and save the open-top driving for the evening, when the heat has dropped and the roof panel isn't baking in the boot the whole time anyway.

Who this is for, and when it makes sense

Book the 2025 Corvette if you're one or two people who want a real mid-engine supercar you can actually use across a week, for dinners, drives up the coast and the odd errand, not just an hour of photos outside a hotel. Being the newest one in the fleet, it's a fair bet on condition, and mechanically it drives exactly like the earlier Stingrays we rent, so you're not paying extra for performance that isn't there.

Size up if a third person is joining you or you're arriving with real luggage, hard cases from the airport in particular. A super-SUV or a sedan handles that better than any two-seater can. Skip it too if you want something soft and quiet for long, easy days, because this car rides firm and sits low, and that's the price of the layout that makes it fun in the first place. For a couple who wants the noise, the drive and the low-slung look without Ferrari or Lamborghini money, this is close to the best version of that idea in Dubai right now.
