Wait for a cooler evening, drop the roof, and the Chevrolet Camaro 2024 turns an ordinary drive along the coast into an event. We deliver this convertible to your hotel, villa or the airport within one to two hours of booking, which matters when the plan is timed around sunset rather than the middle of the afternoon. It runs a V6 in GCC spec, not the turbocharged four some spec sheets quote for this generation, and that engine choice decides whether this Camaro suits a week of city and highway driving or leaves you wanting the V8 instead. This one wears silver, from the sixth generation's final production run, and it is built to be driven with the top folded away.
Under the hood sits a naturally aspirated 3.6 litre V6, the entry engine Chevrolet actually sold in the GCC. Local dealers never offered the turbo four here, so the real choice in this market is this V6 or the 6.2 litre V8 SS. In GCC tune the V6 makes 323 hp at 6,800 rpm and 278 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm, sent through a 10-speed automatic to the rear wheels.
It is an engine that rewards revs rather than shoving you back in the low gears, so a clean overtake on Sheikh Zayed Road means letting it climb past 4,000 rpm rather than expecting instant torque off idle. With the roof down, the exhaust note carries into the cabin in a way the coupe never quite manages, and the 10-speed holds the right gear through a roundabout without hunting for one. It will not out-drag a V8 SS off the line, but for a relaxed cruise with the top folded back on a cooler evening, it is the easier car to actually live with.

The power soft top folds itself away in around 20 seconds at the touch of one button, and you can raise or lower it on the move at speeds up to about 48 km/h, handy if a dust haze rolls in before you have found somewhere to pull over. Because the stowed roof lives permanently in part of the trunk, whether it is up or down, the boot holds about 207 litres, noticeably less than the coupe's 257. One large case fits without a fight; a second bag needs to be soft-sided and wedged in at an angle, and three suitcases for two people flying out is not realistic in this car.
The back seat is a 2+2 in name more than in practice. It will take a bag or a short ride for someone small, not two adults settling in for the drive, and the low roofline eats into what little headroom was there to begin with. Ground clearance sits around 101 mm, so mall ramps and sharper speed bumps want a slower, angled approach rather than driving straight over them, top up or down.
Silver helps here in a way the darker cars in this fleet do not get. Parked in the sun for a few hours at 45 degrees, a lighter roof and body soak up less heat than black paint does, so the cabin starts from a slightly better place. That said, a fabric roof insulates less than the coupe's steel one regardless of colour, so climb back in after a long stretch parked and it will still be properly warm for the first minute or two. The front vents pull the temperature down quickly once the AC is on max with the doors shut. Rear airflow is weaker, one more reason the back seats stay a short-hop proposition through summer.
Fuel economy for the V6 runs around 10.9 km per litre, and the 72-litre tank is good for close to 780 km between fills on a mix of city and highway driving. Salik tolls and any RTA fines land on the renter, as they do across the fleet, and the engine is happier on premium fuel than regular. Your allowance is 250 km a day, with anything beyond that charged at AED 0.5 per kilometre, which covers a normal week of city driving with room left for one longer trip out of town.
Book the V6 convertible if the point of the week is arriving somewhere with the roof down, not setting a lap time. It is relaxed enough for daily traffic, easy enough to place despite the long nose, and this particular car comes from the last run of the sixth-generation Camaro before Chevrolet closed out production in early 2024, a genuine reason to drive one now rather than wait and hope for a successor. Two adults with carry-on bags are the comfortable fit; add a third passenger or real suitcases and the car is working harder than it should.
If the sound and the shove matter more than the theatre of the roof coming down, size up to the V8 SS. Its 6.2 litre engine sounds the part at idle in a way the V6 does not try to, and it is the one to book if flooring it on an empty stretch of highway after dark is the actual goal. Either way, this is a sports car rather than an economy hire. Expect a refundable security deposit at pickup rather than a no-deposit option, and you will need to be at least 25 with a valid licence to take the keys.
