Chevrolet Camaro 2022 - start from 412 AED / day

Settle one question before you book anything else: is this your only car for the week, or the car you drive for the fun of it and leave parked when the shopping starts? Rent the Chevrolet Camaro 2022 in Dubai and you get a four seat convertible that carries about as much as a strict two seater, so your answer decides whether this is a great week or a frustrating one. We bring it to your door in one to two hours, take a debit card, and rent to drivers from 18. What follows is the honest version of the car: what fits in it, who fits in it, and what seven days with it actually costs.

Start with the luggage, not the horsepower

The boot is 207 litres, which is small even by convertible standards, and the folding roof stows into that same space. Drop the top and you lose a chunk of what was already tight.

In practice, two people with one medium hard case and a soft bag will be fine. Two people arriving at DXB with two large cases will not. Plan on one case in the boot and the second across the rear seat, or accept that the roof stays up for the drive home. That is the most common surprise on a Camaro booking, and it is better worked out now than in the airport car park.

The two seats behind you are for bags

Chevrolet lists four seats. Rear legroom is under 30 inches, roughly 760 mm, with a low roofline right over it. An adult can sit back there for a fifteen minute run across town if the front passenger gives up some seat travel, but nobody is doing Dubai to Abu Dhabi in that bench without complaining, and child seats are awkward to load through the front doors. Treat the rear as extra luggage space and the car makes sense. Treat it as seating for four and someone will be unhappy within the hour.

Ask which engine you are getting

This matters more on the Camaro than on almost anything else we rent, because the nameplate covers three very different cars. The GCC lineup for 2022 was the 3.6 litre V6 at 335 hp and the 6.2 litre V8 at 455 hp. A 2.0 litre turbocharged four making 275 hp also circulates in Dubai on cars imported from the United States, and it was never part of the official regional range.

All three are automatic and rear wheel drive, and all three look identical from ten metres away. They do not sound identical. If the V8 noise is why you want a Camaro, confirm the engine when you book, because the four cylinder is quick and perfectly pleasant and sounds nothing like what you pictured. The V6 is the sensible middle: strong enough to make an overtake on Sheikh Zayed Road effortless, and considerably cheaper to feed than the V8.

What a week actually costs to run

Ignore the claimed economy figures. In real Dubai use, with the air conditioning fighting the heat and a right foot that enjoys itself, the V6 lands nearer 11 to 12 litres per 100 km and the V8 closer to 14. On a 72 litre tank that is roughly 500 to 650 km between fills, so most renters stop twice in a week. Petrol here is cheap enough to make that an annoyance rather than a budget problem, though it is a real difference between the engines over seven days.

Mileage is 300 km a day, generous for a car that mostly does short, enjoyable trips, and extra kilometres beyond that are AED 0.5 each. Salik gantries bill to the car and pass to you, and so does any RTA fine. That last point deserves weight on a rear drive coupe with this much power: the cameras on the E11 are unforgiving and the car makes triple digits feel like nothing.

The roof, the sun and a dark cabin

Most Camaros wear a black fabric roof over a dark interior, and that combination bakes in a Dubai summer. Fabric insulates far less than a metal roof, so a car left in an open lot in July comes back genuinely hot, with the dashboard and the seats too warm to touch comfortably.

The AC itself is strong and the cabin is small, so it recovers in a few minutes rather than the ten a big SUV needs. Open both doors for half a minute first, or drop the roof for the first two minutes of driving to dump the trapped air, then close it and let the AC work on a cooler cabin. In peak summer the roof down is an early morning and after dark proposition, and you should book expecting that.

Ramps, bays and the view out of the back

Rear visibility is the Camaro's worst everyday trait. The beltline is high and the rear glass is small, so with the roof up the over the shoulder blind spots are big enough that you should not change lanes on the E11 without checking mirrors properly. Reverse into bays and lean on the camera.

The car is also 1897 mm wide with long doors, a nuisance in older multi storey bays where the neighbouring car leaves you a narrow opening. And it sits low. Steep mall ramps and the harder speed bumps want a slow approach at an angle, otherwise you will hear the front lip find the concrete. None of this is difficult once you have done it twice, it is just a different rhythm from the crossover most people are used to.

Who should book this one

Book it if you are two people who want the car to be part of the trip: cool season evenings with the roof down, a coast road run, a weekend where the driving is the plan. On that brief it is excellent value and nothing else at the price makes the same impression.

Book something else if you need it to do everything. Four adults, a family, or an airport week with real luggage will fight this car daily, and a mid size sedan or crossover will serve you better for less fuel. And if the V8 is specifically why you want a Camaro, confirm the engine at booking rather than hoping. That one question is the difference between the week you imagined and a decent convertible that is not quite the car you had in your head.
