Chevrolet Camaro 2021 - start from 369 AED / day

Park a Chevrolet Camaro 2021 outside a Dubai cafe and people look twice. That reaction is most of why anyone rents one, and we hand this rear-drive coupe over across Dubai with a no-deposit option, so the drama doesn't have to come with a big card hold against it. This is the older-year way into the look and the rumble at the softest rate in the Camaro range. What you're paying for here is presence, a low wide stance and a turbocharged shove that still feels quick. What you're not paying for is space or comfort, and that trade-off is the whole point of this page.

What you actually get for the money

This is the 2.0-litre turbo four, 275 horsepower, rear-wheel drive through an automatic. It is the entry engine, not the V8 SS, and that matters for two reasons. The rate is the lowest of the Camaro years we run, and the running costs are far kinder than the 6.2 V8 would be. You still get a genuinely brisk car. Zero to 100 km/h comes up in about 5.5 seconds, which is more than enough to make Sheikh Zayed Road merges effortless and overtakes a non-event.

The four-cylinder doesn't have the bassy V8 thunder some renters chase, so if the soundtrack is the entire reason you're booking, the 2023 or 2025 SS pages are the honest answer. For everyone else, this engine delivers the shape, the stance and the speed that turn heads, and it does it for less.

The cabin is snug, and that is the honest part

Four seats on paper, two seats in practice. The front is fine for a tall adult, with proper support and a low seating position that suits the car. The rear two are a 2+2 formality. They work for bags, a child seat, or a short hop with someone who won't complain, but no adult wants the back of a Camaro for an airport run from DXB or DWC with cases.

The boot is small and the opening is narrow. One large suitcase plus a soft bag is a realistic load for two people travelling for a week. If you're a couple with two hard cases, you'll be wedging one across the rear seats. Four people with luggage simply doesn't happen in this car, and pretending otherwise wastes your booking.

Visibility is the other coupe tax. The roofline is low, the rear glass is shallow, and the over-shoulder view is poor. Reversing into a tight multi-storey bay leans on the camera and your mirrors more than you'd like. None of this is a fault. It's what a low muscle coupe is, and it's worth knowing before the car arrives rather than after.

Living with it in Dubai heat

A low, dark cabin under a Dubai summer sun gets hot fast, and at 45 degrees the first few minutes after you unlock it are genuinely unpleasant. The air conditioning is strong once it's running and pulls a small cabin down quicker than a big SUV would, simply because there's less air to cool. The practical move is the same one residents use: start it, set the AC high, give it a couple of minutes before you climb in. Park in shade or a basement when you can, because dark seats and a low glasshouse bake.

Salik tolls run on the account and pass to you, as do any RTA fines, and Dubai's speed cameras are well placed and unforgiving, so a car this eager to accelerate is a car to watch your right foot in. Seatbelts are mandatory front and rear. Confirm the security terms at booking, as a performance coupe like this can carry stricter conditions than a small economy car.

Where it shines and where it doesn't

On Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 this is exactly the car you want it to be. It cruises quietly at speed, the turbo torque makes overtaking lazy, and the rear-drive balance feels planted and grown-up rather than nervous. For a weekend of looking good along the coast road or arriving somewhere with a bit of theatre, it earns its keep.

The flip side shows up at low speed. The ride is firm and you feel ridges and joints that a sedan would smooth over. The nose is low, so steep mall ramps and aggressive speed bumps need care and a slow angle to avoid a scrape. The body is wide, which makes tight bays and narrow parking structures a genuine task. This is not a relaxed daily errand car, and it was never meant to be.

Fuel-wise, the turbo four is the sensible Camaro. Expect somewhere around 9 to 10 litres per 100 km in mixed driving, more if you enjoy the acceleration, and the 72-litre tank means you're not chained to a fuel station on a normal week of city use. The V8 would empty far faster.

Who should rent it, and who shouldn't

Rent the Camaro 2021 if you want an American muscle coupe for the look, the stance and a fast, fun week, and you're travelling light, one or two people, with one case between you. It's the value pick of the Camaro line: the same head-turning shape and rear-drive character as the newer years, at the softest rate, and with the no-deposit option taking the sting out of booking something dramatic.

Don't rent it as a family car or a daily workhorse. If you're moving three or four people, carrying real luggage, doing daily airport runs, or you just want a comfortable, easy car for the week, a mid-size sedan or an SUV is the smarter and cheaper-to-live-with choice. And if the V8 rumble is the dream, size up to an SS year rather than settle here. Booked for what it's good at, this car is a lot of presence for the money.
