Picture the daily routine that actually fits this car: a 6 a.m. run down to the office, a fuel stop once a week, a Friday airport drop, and a parking bay you don't have to fight. For that kind of week, we hand over the Chery Arrizo 3 2020, and it rents across Dubai from age 18, where most of the market won't put you behind the wheel before 21. It's one of the cheapest sedans we keep on the fleet, and that's the honest pitch. This is a frugal, no-frills commuter for drivers watching every dirham, not a car you rent to be impressed.
The Arrizo 3 is a five-seat economy sedan with a 1.5-litre petrol four and a four-speed automatic driving the front wheels. Around 109 horsepower moves it, which is fine for the job and no more than that. Off the line and through town it's perfectly content. Ask it for a quick overtake at speed and you'll feel it gather itself first.
The cabin is plain and that's the deal at this price. You get a clean dashboard, a basic infotainment screen, manual-feel controls and hard-wearing plastics rather than soft-touch anything. Two adults up front and three across the back fit without complaint for a city run. The boot is the quiet strength here: 502 litres is genuinely large for the class.

This is where the Arrizo 3 earns its keep. A 502-litre boot is bigger than most rivals in the budget bracket, so a DXB or DWC run with two large suitcases plus a couple of cabin bags goes in without folding the rear seats. Three large cases is the ceiling, and at that point the load floor is doing real work, but for a couple or a small family flying in for the week, luggage isn't the worry it is in a hatchback. The rear seats split-fold if you ever need to carry something long.
The frugal part is real. Expect around 6.5 litres per 100 km in mixed Dubai driving, a bit better on a clear highway cruise, worse if you sit in Sheikh Zayed Road crawl with the AC at full tilt. The tank holds 42 litres, so a realistic week of commuting and errands gets you 550 km or so between fills. Most renters top up once over a seven-day rental. With UAE pump prices, that's the cheapest part of the trip, and it's the main reason people pick this car over a thirstier alternative.
A compact cabin is an advantage when it's 45 degrees outside. There's less air to chill, so once the engine's running the AC pulls a parked Arrizo 3 down from oven to bearable faster than a big sedan does. The cooling here is a single-zone, front-vent system. It does the job, but don't expect rear vents or climate luxury at this price, so back-seat passengers on a long midday run feel it less directly than those up front. Park in shade where you can, crack the windows for the first thirty seconds, and the cabin settles quickly.
Around town the Arrizo 3 is easy to live with. It's narrow enough for tight multi-storey bays and Marina ramps, the steering is light for U-turns, and you won't sweat speed bumps. On the open road it cruises happily at 100 to 120 on the E11, but it's not built for muscular overtaking, so leave room and plan your moves rather than relying on a sudden burst. Above 120 it gets buzzy and works hard.
A few Dubai facts that decide nothing about the car but everything about your bill: Salik tolls are charged to you as the renter, any RTA speed or parking fines pass through to you, and seat belts are mandatory in every seat with child seats required for under-fours. None of that is unique to this car, but it's worth knowing before you set off.
Rent the Arrizo 3 if you want the lowest sensible running cost for solo commuting, daily errands, or an airport-and-back trip, and you genuinely don't care about badge or polish. It's a tool that does a narrow job cheaply, and the big boot is a real bonus for the money. The drivers we'd steer elsewhere are the ones who'll spend a lot of time at highway speed or carry four adults regularly. If the cabin feel and a stronger engine matter to you, a Mitsubishi Attrage or Kia Pegas costs a little more but feels more settled, and a Geely Emgrand gives you a noticeably nicer interior if your budget can stretch. But purely on cost per day with room for the luggage, the Arrizo 3 is hard to beat, and that's exactly why we keep it on the fleet.
